Showtime Grand Finals | Graffiti Motion no longer competing

The 1st Season of ABS-CBN's Showtime will end via a grand final showdown this
July 24, 2010 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Ten (10) groups will compete in the Grand Finals, including the winner of the Wildcard Finals this Friday.

The wildcard round this week was introduced because one grand finalist, the Graffiti Motion of Tanauan, Batangas, is no longer competing in the grand finals.

The reason? Wikipedia says it's due to foreign conflicts.

Remember, Graffiti Motion, who performed shadow dancing in the show,
was accused by some Showtime viewers of copying an idea or concept from a Youtube video.

The video referred to was that of Pilobolus, a group of shadow dancers in the US who performed at "Late Night with Conan O' Brien" in 2009.

Showtime judges led by Vice Ganda and Jhong Hilario even defended Graffiti Motion by stating that
originality isn't among their criteria. They also encouraged the group to instill "Filipino touch" in their next performance so as not to be accused of copying.

The group managed to move thru the monthly finals then advanced to the grand finals.

On their official Facebook Page, Graffiti Motion has notified its followers of the sad news: "Hindi na po kami makakasama sa grand
finals sa kadahilanang mas minabuti ng ABS-CBN management na ilayo at iiwas ang aming grupo sa isang napakalaking kapahamakan."

They did not disclose the whole reason but probably it has something to do with the "plagiarism" issue and ABS-CBN avoids any possible
problem that would arise if Graffiti Motion will perform again for the 4th time in the show.

1. Kasibulan of Muntinlupa City
2. Perlas ng Silangan of Olongapo City
3. Mortal Combat and the Showgays of Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City
4. Beat Guys of Fairview, Quezon City
5. Sensei of Roxas City, Capiz
6. Savannah Kids Ballroom Dancers of Antipolo City
7. Philippine Islands Assasin of Marikina City
8. Enlighten Black Theatre Group of San Juan, Metro Manila
9. E-Crew of Paete, Laguna
10. [ wildcard ]

Who are your bets? I'm rooting for Sensei and the Beat Guys.
