DFA: Venus Raj is a true Filipina, can claim her Philippine passport soon

It's too early to rejoice but we can now say that Maria Venus Raj has
succeeded in getting back her Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 2010 title.

If you remember, on April 10, the BPCI gave a condition to Raj that
she will only be reinstated as Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 2010 if she could provide a valid Philippine passport. And after a month, Raj is now almost through in fulfilling the condition.

As of latest update, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has certified that Venus Raj is a Filipina by blood and thus deserves a Philippine passport.

DFA formed a special committee last month to evaluate the documents which Raj submitted to their office and after a month, they've
come up with a favorable decision.

Here's DFA's official statement sent out to the press on Wednesday:

"The committee stated that on the basis of documents presented by Ms.
Maria Venus Raj, it is well-established that she was born to a Filipina mother, and following the jus sanguinis rule on matters of citizenship
acquisition, she is a Filipino citizen who is entitled to a Philippine passport."

Raj is yet to claim her passport, but the DFA has assured that it will be issued to her in the next few days.

With that, Raj will still be the Philippine candidate in the Miss
Universe 2010 pageant to be held this August in Las Vegas.

BPCI probably didn't expect this to happen. For sure, they have learned a lesson now and realized that they have committed a big mistake in stripping off the title from Venus.
