The group Daughtry, led by American Idol Season 5 finalist Chris Daughtry, was the big winner at the 2007 American Music Awards held Sunday night, November 18, 2007 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.The group won three awards: Favorite Pop / Rock Album, Favorite Adult Contemporary Music Artist and Favorite Breakthrough Artist.
Carrie Underwood, another American Idol graduate, was also a big winner, snatching Favorite Female Country Music Artist, Favorite Country Music Album and the T-Mobile Text-in awards. Multi-awarded artist Justin Timberalke won as Favorite Pop / Rock Male Artist and Favorite Soul RnB Album.
Preggy Jennifer Lopez was recognized as Favorite Latin Music Artist while the mega popular High School Musical 2 won as Favorite Soundtrack Album.
Beyonce lost to Fergie as Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist and to Rihana as Favorite RnB Female Artist, but she did not go home empty-handed as she was given an important award, the International Artist Award.
