Hubert Webb, son of former Senator and actor, Freddie Webb, has been acquitted today in the Vizconde Massacre case after suffering in jail for 15 long years.

Hubert Webb, now 41 years old, and 6 others who were also convicted for the same case were acquitted by the Supreme Court and have been ordered to be released from jail.

The other 6 are Antonio "Tony Boy" Lejano (son of Pinky de Leon and nephew of Christopher De Leon), Michael Gatchalian, Miguel Rodriguez, Hospicio "Pyke" Fernandez, Peter Estrada and former police officer Gerardo Biong.

The decision was made 15 years after Hubert Webb and co. were imprisoned in
1995. They were convicted twice for the case, in 2000 by the Parañaque RTC and in 2005 by the Court of Appeals.

As reported by ABS-CBN News earlier, 7 Justices voted for Hubert's
acquittal while only 4 were against it.

It's indeed an early Christmas gift for the Webb family who has been
fighting for Hubert's innocence.

But of course, it's definitely not a merry Christmas for Mr. Lauro Vizconde, who nearly collapsed after the Supreme Court gave its order,
as shown on the video by ABS-CBN News Patrol.

Mr. Vizconde lost his wife and two daughters in the said massacre, and with this latest development, he will be starting all over again in fighting for justice.

Do you think the Supreme Court has made the right decision?

And now that Webb and 6 others have been proven NOT GUILTY in the case, who really killed the Vizconde(s)?

Maybe we have to wait for another 19 years for the Vizconde Massacre Case to finally be resolved.

  2. it's better to acquit 10 guilty persons than to penalize a single person who is innocent.

  3. Justice runs both ways. Justice to the victim of the heinous crime, and justice to the victims of wrong conviction. Justice has been finally served on those who were wrongly convicted, but for the massacre victims, it's not over yet until the guilty ones are brought to justice. The DOJ should pursue the theory of then NBI Director Epimaco Velasco, who personally led the investigation, and who strongly believed then, and still believes now, that it was someone else than Hubert and company that perpetrated the crime.

  8. Biased and Media, puro webb ang pinapakita. Saka yung sa channel 2 na Documentary, 2 mukha ng Hustisya, very biased. Puro Webb, and nandun..hehehe...

  9. I believed that justice has been served well. My heart goes for the Webbs who inspite of the many false allegations against their son has shown dignity and grace during their most trying moments in their lives. We are happy for Hubert 'Webb and the other four gentlemen who have been falsely convicted by a very biased judge. What a wasted 15 years of their lives, but they are still young and I know God will guide them all to recover from this nightmare.
