With a total of 13 nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) 2010, it's expected that Lady Gaga will win awards atleast half of her nods.

And it did happen.

Lady Gaga was the biggest winner at the VMA 2010 held Sunday, September 12, 2010, at the Los Angeles' Nokia Theater.

Lady Gaga's hit single "Bad Romance" earned her many awards at the VMA 2010 such as Best Dance Music Video, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Choreography, Best Direction, Best Editing and the highest award, Best Video of the Year. She also won Best Collaboration with Beyonce for their song "Telephone".

Her record of 8 wins this 2010 makes Lady Gaga as the 2nd artist with the most awards in a single year, next to Peter Gabriel who won 10 in 1987.

With 3 awards in 2009 and 8 this year, Lady Gaga is also now among the Top 5 artists with the most awards ever in VMA history. She's now 4th tied with Greenday and Eminem having 11 awards. Eminem won 2 awards this year, Best Male Video and Best Hip Hop Video.

The Top 3 are Madonna with 20, Peter Gabriel has 13 and R.E.M. with 12.

It was quite an amazing feat for Lady Gaga because she did it in just 2 years. Last year, she won 3: Best New Artist, Best Special Effects and Best Art Direction.

Justin Bieber meanwhile has succeeded Lady Gaga as the Best New Artist in the VMA 2010.

Prior to winning the award, Bieber had his debut performance for VMA and sang "Baby", "U Smile" and "Somebody To Love".

Other winners:

30 Seconds To Mars "Kings & Queens" - Best Rock Video
Muse "Uprising" - Best Special Effects
Florence & the Machines "Dog Days Are Over" - Best Art Direction
Jay-Z and Alicia Keys "Empire State of Mind" - Best Cinematography
The Black Keys - "Tighten Up" - Breakthrough Video
