FIBA Asia 2013 - Gilas Pilipinas vs Jordan Results, August 2, 2013: Gilas Pilipinas were trailing by 5 points at the first half, 38-33, after surviving an 11-point lead by Jordan. But in the 2nd half, it was the other way around. Gilas Pilipinas outscored Jordan in the 3rd quarter and posted their biggest lead of 14 points at the start of the 4th quarter. Game ended with the final scores 71-77, for Gilas.

Gabe Norwood was named Best Player of the game after he made 8 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Top scorer for Gilas was Jeffrei Chan with 17 points, while Jordan's Mohammad Hadrab had 2 points higher, 19 points.

It was sort of a revenge for the Philippines. If you remember, it was Jordan who defeated Smart Gilas Pilipinas in the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship, which caused Gilas to just settle for a 3rd place game (where they lost eventually), while Jordan went on to compete in the finals versus China, but they lost. Gilas Pilipinas' win vs Jordan put the Philippines, along with Chinese Taipei, on top of Group A teams and now secured a slot in the Second Round. Chinese Taipei and the Philippines now both have 4 points after winning their respective games yesterday and today.

Tomorrow is Day 3 and last day of the preliminary round with 1 game remaining for each of the 4 teams in Group A (Philippines vs Chinese Taipei, Saudi Arabia vs Jordan). Even if Gilas lose tomorrow, they're already advancing to the next round, but it would still be best if they win since records from the preliminary round will be carried over to Second Round.

The game between Saudi Arabia and Jordan is the crucial one, for it will decide who will advance along with the Philippines and Chinese Taipei.

Compared to last night's crowd for Gilas vs Saudi Arabia game, tonight's crowd at MOA Arena were more enthusiastic, and their huge cheers definitely boosted the team's win. Celebrities spotted among the audience were Aga Muhlach with twins Atasha and Andres, John Prats, Bayani Agbayani and former Senator, PBA legend Robert Jaworski. Even Aga and Pratty rose to their feets every time Gilas Pilipinas hit the basket, especially during the tense moments of the game.
