'One More Chance' tops Philippine Weekend Box-Office

Star Cinema has another reason to celebrate as its latest offering 'One More Chance', which stars John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, has topped the Philippine weekend box office, November 14-18, 2007, with a gross of $1.5M or 66.3 million pesos.

It almost toppled down the opening weekend gross of Aga Muhlach starrer 'A Love Story' with 68 million pesos, when it opened last August. However, when converted to US dollars, 'A Love Story' had $1.4 million gross sales, 100 thousand dollars short from 'One More Chance', considering that the US dollar rate in August was P46.00 as compared to these days' P43.OO-P44.00.

With this, 'One More Chance' has prevented foreign film 'Beowulf' to land on the top spot last weekend. It settled on 2nd place, with $0.7 million or 28.7 million pesos.

'Beowulf' has topped weekend box-office charts in the US, Austria, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.

If the trend continues, 'One More Chance' is in the running for Top 5 Box-Office hits in the Philippines for 2007 if we look at the total box-office gross of the following Filipino movies shown in the past 9 months:

A Love Story - $3.1 million
