The Philippine Azkals Vs. Vietnam match in Group A of AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 has just ended, and you'll be happy to know that it's our dear Azkals who won, 1-0.

After a disappointing loss to Thailand last Saturday which resulted to the Philippines as the lowest-ranked team in Group A, the Azkals bounced back with a victory tonight vs Vietnam in a match held earlier tonight, November 27, 2012, at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The ever amazing Emilio 'Chieffy' Caligdong of the Azkals scored the only goal during the 85th minute of the game.

This win puts the Philippines in 2nd, next to Thailand, in the Group A ranking and definitely brings big chance to the Philippines to enter the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 Semi-Finals.

One more game is left for the Azkals in the group stage, and it's against Myanmar, to be held this Friday, November 30, at SCG Stadium, Nonthaburi, Thailand. Azkals must win this game to be able to land in the semis. If it resulted to a draw, and Vietnam loses to or draws with Thailand in their match, the Azkals will also advance.

It can be recalled that the Azkals also defeated Vietnam, who was the defending champion then, during the group stage of 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup.

It was considered a major upset, which made worldwide headlines for the Azkals and even made it as among Sports Illustrated's Top 10 Football Stories of 2010.

Current FIFA World Ranking has Vietnam in 146th slot while the Philippines is at 150th.

Thailand meanwhile is 133rd, and Myanmar ranks 184th.

Group B teams in the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup are composed of defending champion Malaysia (with world ranking of #157), Indonesia (#159), Singapore (#162) and Laos (#194). - www.mykiru.ph
