American Idol 2012 winner has been crowned and he is 21-year-old Phillip Phillips from Leesburg, Georgia, who won over 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez from Chula Vista, San Diego, California.

Phillip Phillips was named as American Idol 2012 winner during the live finale held Thursday night, May 23, at the Nokia Theatre in LA.

With a record total of 132.3 million votes, Phillips got the most votes from the viewers and bested Jessica Sanchez, who is half Filipino-half Mexican, and has been described many times as one of the best singers ever in "American Idol".

The results obviously proved that being the best singer is not always a guarantee that you'll be the winner.

As American Idol Season 11 runner-up, Jessica Sanchez also won a brand new car and will also have a record deal just like Phillips. Still a winner!

Phillips, who's also known as Phil, PP or Phil-Phil, becomes the 7th male "American Idol" winner, and the 5th consecutive male winner, after David Cook (Season 7), Kris Allen (Season 8), Lee DeWyze (Season 9) and Scotty McCreery (Season 10).

Notice that the last 5 "Idol" winners, now including Phillips, were good-looking and charming "white guys with guitars" (WGWG).

The WGWG trend was already raised as a problem of A.I. when DeWyze won in the 9th Season. It continued until McCreery bagged the Season 10 title and up to now, it's buzzing again after P2's victory.

Phillips' striking resemblance to last season's winner says it all. The ones who voted for Scotty were most probably also the ones who voted for Phillip.

ScottyMcCreery tweets: "Welcome to the family man. Proud of you, @PPhillipsAI11."

That just makes American Idol results very predictable and as early as now, we can already say that the American Idol Season 12 (2013) winner is another WGWG.

At 21, Phillips is the 2nd youngest American Idol winner (next to Scotty who won at 17) and the 4th youngest over-all, after Scotty, Jordin Sparks, Fantasia Barrino and Kelly Clarkson. He's also the first from Georgia to win on 'Idol'.

His winning song "Home", which earned the only standing ovation at the American Idol 2012 finale performances, will become his first single and it's already being expected to be a huge hit.

Guestings for Phillip Phillips have been lined up already, and it starts today, Thursday, May 24. He will be on NBC's 'Access Hollywood' at 7:30PM, on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' also on NBC at 11:35PM and on Tuesday, he and Jessica are guests on ABC's "Live! With Kelly" at 9AM.
