The 2-week Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2013, which started last December 25 and ended January 7, 2014 set a new record of almost P1-billion total gross (P987-million), a big improvement from the 2012's final gross earnings of P787.7-million. That's an increase of 26.3%.

And based on the final 14-day tally of the festival, the comedy movie "My Little Bossings" which starred the adorable tandem of Bimby James Yap and Ryzza Mae Dizon plus Bossing Vic Sotto and Queen of All Media Kris Aquino was the festival top grosser with P375.9-million, the highest-grossing film ever in the history of MMFF, but only with a slight edge over the 2nd top grosser "Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy", another comedy film which starred Vice Ganda and Maricel Soriano, earning so close with P375.45-million. Just a difference of P450,000.

The horror film "Pagpag", topbilled by Teen King and Queen Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo, collected a gross of P170.5-million also during the entire 14-day run of the festival, becoming the highest-grossing horror film ever in MMFF.

THe other comedy film "Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel" with Eugene Domingo and Sam Milby leading the cast took 4th spot, having only P30.6-million, a far cry from the earnings of the 2nd movie in the series, "Kimmy Dora: The Temple of Kiyeme", which earned over P100-million in 2012.

Above figures came from TV5 reporter MJ Marfori quoting MMDA Chairman Francis Talentino as her source.

The share and the ranking for these Bottom 4 films ('10,000 Hours, 'Boy Golden', 'Kaleidoscope World', 'Pedro Calungsod') however are not available, but their grosses when combined will result to only P34.55-million. Can you just imagine the share of each of the 4 films?

The three highest-grossing films have been extended in theaters even if the festival already ended last January 7. As of January 12, both "My Little Bossings" and "Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy" have already earned above P400-million, a new all-time record for a Filipino movie.

It remains to be seen which movie ends up OFFICIALLY on top as the highest-grossing 2013 film. Last Monday, January 13, Star Cinema, who co-produced "Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy" already announced that the movie is already the highest-grossing Pinoy film ever with over P420-million gross and still counting. 2012's "Sisterakas" which also starred Vice Ganda previously owned that record with P393-million final gross.

With that, if that would be made official, Vice Ganda for sure will be crowned once again as the Phenomenal Box Office Star for the 3rd year in a row by Guillermo Mendoza Scholarship Foundation.
As of this posting, Vice's movie is still playing in at least 10 theaters, while "My Little Bossings" runs in at least 5, and "Pagpag" can still be watched in least 2 theaters.
