ABS-CBN will do a TV remake of the hit Japanese cartoon-anime 1985 series Princess Sarah, with Sharlene San Pedro as the title role.
Sharlene will play Princess Sarah Crewe while award-winning actor Albert Martinez will be her father, Mr. Ralph Crewe.
But what is most interesting is that, Eunice "Charming" Lagusad and Sheryl Cruz will be the lovable Becky and evil Miss Minchin respectively. For sure, these two will deliver outstanding, memorable performances out of it, just like Angelica Panganiban and Jean Garcia in the movie version during the 90s.
Sharlene San Pedro will be supported by Diether Ocampo as Master Crisford, Carlos Agassi as Phillip Burrows, Candy Pangilinan as Miss Amelia, Irish Fullerton as Miss Viola and Ms. Ai Ai de las Alas as Ram Dass. Jaime Fabregas, Lui Villaruz, Helga Krapf, Bubbles Paraiso and Eddie Gutierrez will also play important roles.
The loveteam of Matt Evans and Melissa Ricks will also be featured in the said upcoming teleserye as Paul and Mariette.
Other kiddie cast includes Sophia Baars (as Lavinia), Divine Peñaflor, Kaycee Aboloc, Noemi Oineza (as Lottie), Angel Sy (as Emily) and Julijo Pisk (as Peter).
Directors will be Nuel Naval and Don Cuaresma.
ABS-CBN already aired the Tagalized version of Princess Sarah in 1995. Star Cinema, ABS-CBN's movie arm, produced the movie version of Princess Sarah that same year. Entitled Sarah, Ang Munting Prinsesa, it starred Camille Prats as Princess Sarah, Angelica Panganiban as Becky, Matt Ranillo III as Sarah's dad, Rio Locsin as Amelia and Jean Garcia as Ms. Minchin.
Princess Sarah, the series, premieres November 12, 2007 on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida, right after TV Patrol World.
