Heavy favorites emerge as winners in Miss Earth 2008

The results of the 2008 Miss Earth beauty pageant that happened last night, November 09, 2008, in the Philippines, with the hometown girl Karla Henry winning the title was generally favorable as Henry and her court were considered big favorites for the crown.

Top favorite Miss Spain Adriana Reveron failed to bag the crown, but she managed to be one of the Top 8 finalists.

Five other heavy favorites such as Brazil, Colombia, Philippines, Romania and Tanzania also made their presences felt during the finals with three of them winning major titles.

Biggest "miss" this year is the candidate from Greece, who during the first two weeks of the pageant was the top favorite for the crown, while the biggest surprise of the night was Miss Nigeria. She bested other highly favored African delegates such as Misses South Africa, Botswana, Rwanda, Uganda and South Sudan.

It's the 4th consecutive year for Venezuela and Czech Republic to place in Miss Earth finals, while it's 3 consecutive times for Spain.
