It's payback time!

After Filipino Manny Pacquiao was knocked out in 6th round and lost to Mexican Juan Marquez exactly a week ago, here's another knockout victory between a Filipino and a Mexican, but it's the other way around: Filipino Nonito Donaire Jr. knocked out Mexican Jorge Arce in a much earlier 3rd Round.

Interestingly, official time of the Donaire-Arce knockout was 2:59 of the 3rd round, same time as the Pacquiao-Marquez knockout in the 6th round.

Since Round 1 of the Donaire vs Arce fight, Nonito Donaire was already showing much power and as early as Round 2, he already knocked down Arce, who in his post-fight interview announced his retirement from boxing: "I promised my children if I lost, I would retire."

With this, the 30-year-old Nonito Donaire Jr has successfully defended his WBO Super Bantamweight Title and his boxing record improves to 31 wins (20 knockouts) with just 1 loss. (Jorge Arce, 33, on one hand, finished his boxing career with 62 wins, 7 losses, 2 draws and with 40 knockouts.)

It's amazing that this is Nonito Donaire's 4th victory this 2012 alone. He has won 4 fights in a span of just 9 months.

Last February, he won via split decision against Wilfredo Vazquez Jr from Puerto Rico, then in July, he fought and won via unanimous decision against Jeffrey Mathebula of South Africa. Then only 2 months ago, Donaire defeated Japanese boxer Toshiaki Nishioka via 9th Round TKO.

The Fighter of the Year award this 2012 is definitely his.

I overheard a young boy here in my neighborhood saying, "Siya na bagong idol ko. Hindi na si Pacquiao." (He's now my new idol, and no longer Pacquiao!).

Definitely, Nonito Donaire is a worthy heir to Pacquiao's throne. - Mykiru.ph
