The royal baby's name has been revealed, and it's George Alexander Louis, as announced by the baby's parents Kate Middleton and Prince William on Wednesday.

Two days after he was born and a day after he and mother Kate left the hospital, the royal baby's name has been revealed. Names actually.

The Clarence House (@clarencehouse), who tweets on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, made the royal baby name official announcement on Twitter on Wednesday evening in London (Thursday morning MLA time, while I was sleeping). "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis. The boy will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge."

The baby probably was named after the baby's great grandmother Queen Elizabeth II's father Prince George VI and grandfather Prince George V, as well as the baby's great grandfather Prince Philip's maternal grandfather Prince Louis Alexander of Battenberg.

Prince William's full given name actual has Louis in it: William Arthur Philip Louis.

Obviously, most bookies won in the royal baby name guessing game. They had George as their top bet, followed by James.

Expect a surge in the name George among newborn babies. (Our pet, Talilay, is giving birth anytime this week. We might name one of her pups as "George".)
