Bagyong 'Ruby' still strong, Signal No. 3 now in many areas

Bagyong 'Ruby' is expected to make landfall between 8 to 10 tonight.

It's Saturday today, December 6, the day Typhoon 'Ruby' ('Hagupit') had been expected to make landfall. Based on PAGASA's weather update at 4 this afternoon, it will make landfall this evening in the vicinity of Dolores, Eastern Samar.

The eye of Typhoon "RUBY" was located based on all available data 100 km East of Dolores, Eastern Samar or 195 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar (with coordinates 12.1N, 126.4E).

It has weakened, with maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center (from 195 kph at 11AM) and
gustiness of up to 210 kph (previously at 230kph).

But it's now being expected to move West at 16 kph, 6kph faster than what was stated in the update 12 hours ago.

Tomorrow afternoon, its position could be 50 km East of Romblon, PAGASA said.

Signal #3 is now raised in 10 areas, such as Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, as well as the following places from the Bicol Region: Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate ,Ticao Island and the newly-added Burias Island.


From #2, it's now just Signal #1 in Dinagat Province. Also No. 1 is assigned for these areas: Camarines Norte, Southern Quezon, Marinduque, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Iloilo, Antique, Guimaras, Northern Negros, Rest of Cebu, Bohol and Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island.

Storm warning signal has already been lifted for the Camotes Island.
