Bea Alonzo, Kim Chiu, Sarah G & more for Best Actress at 62nd FAMAS Awards (2014)

Bea Alonzo, Kim Chiu, Sarah Geronimo, Angel Locsin, Marian Rivera, Toni Gonzaga, KC Concepcion, Julia Montes and Kathryn Bernardo are nominated as Best Actress in the 62nd FAMAS Awards, whose awarding ceremony will be held this Sunday night already, July 13, 2014, at the Solaire Resort & Casino.

The country's top leading ladies, minus Anne Curtis, are all nominees in this year's FAMAS Awards, not for who's the brightest star or the most popular of them all, but for the Best Actress award.

These young actresses are joined in the nominees list by the multi-awarded Lorna Tolentino, the only veteran among the nominees.

I actually love that FAMAS is recognizing comedic performances from last year (Kim Chiu for "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo", Sarah Geronimo for "It Takes A Man and A Woman" and Marian Rivera for "Kung Fu Divas"), something they already did in the past, just like when Ai-Ai de las Alas was nominated and then won for 'Ang Tanging Mo (Last Na 'To') in 2011. Sarah G. actually was already nominated for the same Laida Magtalas role in the rom-com film 'You Changed My Life' in 2009.

If you're wondering why neither Nora Aunor nor Vilma Santos made it as a nominee, even if they had something to be recognized the past year, it's because they were already elevated to the FAMAS Hall of Fame decades ago (they won Best Actress 5 times already).

For the Best Actor award, top leading men are also up against each other, such as John Lloyd Cruz, Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson, Dingdong Dantes, Xian Lim, Daniel Padilla and Coco Martin. Joining
them are "senior" stars Vic Sotto, Robin Padilla and ER Ejercito, who has won Best Actor the past 2 FAMAS awards. Will ER make it 3 years in a row?

That's a possibility, probably the reason why Joel Torre, who should be nominated as Best Actor for 'On The Job', is nominated under Best Supporting Actor. In other award-giving bodies, Torre was nominated as Best Actor for the same work and even won at the Gawad Urian.

Hmmm, someone's being favored to win as Best Actor in this year's FAMAS, so he was avoided a clash versus Joel Torre. What do you think?

  2. With so many awards in her name, we believe that Miss Bea alonzo is deserving to get the FAMAS award this time as best actress. She should have received it in the movie "The Mistress", but was missed. Among the actors in "The Four Sisters and a Wedding", she delivered it, I had tears on my cheeks especially the moment when she was talking to her siblings and her mother. I became a fan when I saw her in "Magkaribal" and I find her a very talented and generous actress. Her acting ability is so realistic and spontaneous. I am watching the soap "Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon" right now and will never miss an episode, great story and great casts. Newsmen here in Canada consider Miss Alonzo as the most decent among the actors of her generations. Among the young actors of her generations she is the only one I know that celebrated her 18th birthday with young orphans and continuously doing charity work very quietly. She can dance and sing and had 3 platinums and 2 golds in her name. All the best and God bless.
