James Yap loses "Coffee King" title to Mark Barroca

San Mig Coffee Mixers survived a very dramatic Game 6 to become the PBA Philippine Cup 2014 champions, defeating the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

The championship game aired live over TV5 was held at the Araneta Coliseum Wednesday, February 26, with a crowd attendance of 20,337. Game 5 last Sunday had a higher number, 20,512 (I was one of them).

The San Mig Coffee Mixers started and finished strong in Game 6, surviving the "drama" all throughout the game, particularly that Rain or Shine's partial walkout, initiated by its coach Yeng Guiao after a bad foul call on JR Quiñahan early in the 2nd quarter. (They're set to be fined P2-million because of that.)

Coffee Prince Mark Barroca led the Mixers in the scoring, 24 points, and was eventually named as the Finals MVP, his very first PBA Award.

Some people are now calling Barroca as the Coffee King, stripping off James Yap with the title.

Aside from 'King James', same as that of NBA's Lebron James, Yap was also being called as Coffee King, who's already a 2-time PBA Most Valuable Player and also 2-time Finals MVP.

It's now the 6th time for the team franchise to win the Philippine Cup title. They previously won in 1991, 1993, 1997, 2006 and 2010. Marc
Pingris was the Finals MVP in 2006, and it was James in 2010.
