The TV host - comedian was actually just giving words of advice yesterday, trying to help overcome the insecurities and boost the confidence of one TNT semi-finalist when he suddenly mentioned Calvento's name.

The said semifinalist was John Mark Saga, a student from Cavite, who shared that he's having insecurities and he's afraid of getting bashed because of his physical appearance.

"Never be ashamed of your face. Yang mukha mo, ikaw yan at maraming pagdadalhan yang mukha na yan. That is a gift. Your face, kahit gaano kalaki yan, kahit kamukha mo si Tony Calvento, mukha mo yan. Kaya dapat proud ka. Wag mong ikakahiya yang mukha mo, kase nag iisa lang yan," Vice told John Mark.

Perhaps Vice offended Calvento, or even his co-host Vhong Navarro [who's close to the Calvento(s)] or he just realized he made a mistake that he had to apologize a day later.

In his written apology, Vice said that he didn't mean to insult, offend or disrespect Calvento.

Here's the entire apology:

Nais ko pong humingi ng paumanhin kay Mr. Tony Calvento sa pagkakabanggit ko ng kanyang pangalan sa interview ng isang semifinalist ng Tawag ng Tanghalan kahapon.

Wala po akong intensyon na saktan o insultuhin kayo Mr. Calvento. Ang tanging intensyon ko ay magbigay ng payo sa aming contestant na magtiwala sa sarili at sa kanyang kakayahan.

Again, my sincerest apologies Mr. Tony Calvento. Malaki po ang respeto ko sa inyo bilang isang journalist, kaibigan at kapamilya.

Sincerely,

Vice Ganda

Just this evening, hours after Vice apologized, Sir Tony Calvento has shared on Facebook that he indeed felt insulted by Vice and even threatened to sue him and Showtime if the latter won't issue a public apology.

Tony Calvento: "YESTERDAY AFTER USING MY NAME IN AN INSULTING MANNER, I THREATENED TO SUE THE WHOLE SHOWTIME IN A CIVIL CASE AND VICE GANDA IN A CRIMINAL CASE.

VICE CALLED ME UP AND I DEMANDED A PUBLIC APOLOGY TO PUT HIM IN HIS PROPER PLACE. TODAY, BILLY READ VICE'S LETTER SINCE HE IS IN KOREA.

JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE A FAMOUS HOST YOU CAN MAKE FUN OF ANYONE. #knowyourrights"

LATEST UPDATE: Fresh from Korea, Vice Ganda apologized again to Tony Calvento on Showtime live airing today, August 17, 5 days after his written apology. "I just would like to personally apologize nga pala. Kase, last time, I wasn't able to personally say my apologies to Mr. Tony Calvento. He got offended when his name was dragged during the discussion noong nakaraang linggo. Pasensya na ho kayo. I personally apologize. Pasensya na kung naantala dahil nasa Korea ako. Gayunpaman, nakausap ko na din naman siya, tumawag ako sa kanya para personally mag-apologize, at gusto ko pa ding gawin 'to. Pasensya na po. I apologize," Vice said during today's TNT segment. - Mykiru.ph
