'The Breakup Playlist', the Sarah Geronimo-Piolo Pascual movie that debuted in theaters yesterday, is playing so well at the Philippine Box Office, with a reported opening gross earnings of P15-million, despite a very strong Hollywood competition ('Terminator: Genisys').

Late last night, Piolo and Sarah both guested live on 'Aquino and Abunda Tonight', where it was announced that 'The Breakup Playlist' earned P15M on its first day, another impressive start for a Star Cinema-Viva co-production, which is now showing in close to 200 cinemas nationwide.

Well, casting together the reigning Box Office King Piolo Pascual and the 3-time Box Office Queen Sarah Geronimo in a movie was a great idea, and there's no other way the movie was going but to be a sure-fire hit.

It's impressive 'coz it's PJ and Sarah's first movie teamup, and it's only the 2nd mainstream hit by director Dan Villegas, after last MMFF's 'English Only, Please', which starred Derek Ramsay and Jennylyn Mercado.

'The Breakup Playlist's' P15M 1st day gross income is the same as the opening gross of last year's 'She's Dating The Gangster', which ultimately grossed over P250M to become the record-holder for the month of July, and higher than lastmonth's 'Just The Way You Are', which already hit the P100M mark the other day. A finaltally of over P200M could also a guarantee for the Sarah-Piolo movie, depending on its staying power in theaters.
