Asian Games 2014 Basketball: Gilas Pilipinas wins vs India

The Philippines' Gilas Pilipinas are off to a great start at the 2014 Asian Games in South Korea.

Earlier this afternoon, Sep. 23, Gilas Pilipinas won against India, their first game in the 2014 Asian Games, the first fixture in the Preliminary Round for Group E teams.

Held at the Hwaseong Sports Complex, the Philippine team dominated all throughout the game, leaving no chance for the Indian team to come close in the scoring by at least 5 points and below.

QUARTER SCORERS: 24-16, 50-37, 70-56, 85-76

Marcus Douthit and Jeff Chan led Gilas in the scoring with 14 points. Douthit actually made a double double, for he also recorded 10 rebounds.

For India, team captain Amritpal Singh topped in the scoring with 16 pts while Amjyot Singh contributed 15 pts, Joginder Singh scored 13 and Bhriguvanshi Vishesh had 13 pts.

Gilas Pilipinas' next game will be vs Iran, the team who defeated them in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championships. It's a tougher game, happening on the 25th at 2PM. - Mykiru.ph
