Miss Philippines Ariella Arida has made it to Miss Universe 2013 Top 16, then Top 10 and eventually Top 5! Hurray!!!!
PHILIPPINES IN THE TOP 16
Ariella Arida was the last candidate to be called as one of the Top 16 semi-finalists of Miss Universe 2013. (She was secured with a Top 16 slot after winning the People's Choice voting conducted at Miss Universe official website.)
Aside from Philippines, the other candidates who made it to the Top 16 are:

After the Top 16 competed in swimsuit, they were trimmed down to just 10 with Miss Philippines included!

The Evening Gown competition was next and determined the candidates who will advance to the Top 5.

After the EG round, the Top 5 finalists were announced and it included once again Ariella Arida.

Have you noticed? Miss Philippines, the only Asian, was against Hispanic or Latina candidates in the Top 5. Remember the controversy? Indeed, she was out there to prove something. In fact, she's the only one who didn't use an interpreter.
But the judges still favored 3 candidates over Ariella and gave her the 3rd Runner Up placement.

She may have failed to win the title, but Ara has continued Philippines' Top 5 / Runner-Up streak in Miss Universe.
Venus Raj started it out in 2010, placing 4th Runner Up, then Shamcey Supsup finished 3rd Runner Up in 2011. Last year, Janine Tugonon was so close to winning, finishing 1st Runner Up. And now, the runner-up finish continues, with Ariella Arida as Miss Universe 2013 3rd Runner Up. Good job Ara!
