Tropical Storm Saola ('Gener') now heading towards Taiwan

Tropical Storm Gener (Saola), which intensified into a typhoon Monday afternoon, has maintained its strength and is now heading towards Eastern Taiwan, according to PAGASA on its weather bulletin issued at 11PM Monday, July 29, 2012.

"Gener" is now located 240 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph and is moving North Northwest at 7 kph.

Just like on the weather bulletin for "Gener" issued at 5PM yesterday, Public Storm Signal No. 3 is still raised in Batanes Group of Islands and Signal No. 2 in Cagayan
Calayan Group of Islands and Babuyan Group of Islands, while Signal No. 1 in Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao

Typhoon "Gener" is expected to be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Thursday in the evening.
