Philippines' Azkals Vs Turkmenistan, the final match in Group E of AFC Challenge Cup 2014 Qualifiers, has just wrapped up tonight, March 26, 2013, at Rizal Memorial Stadium, as aired live on Studio 23.

Both very determined to qualify for the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup, the Philippines Azkals and Turkmenistan were already aggressive too early in the 1st half, but the match continued to be goal-less in the 2nd half, until the Philippine Azkals' Phil Younghusband scored the very first goal at the 67th minute, with less than an hour left in the game.

At the 85th minute however, the hero of the game, Phil, was given a red card, thus will be suspended on their next competitive game. Ouch!

The match ended with the Philippines as winner and as the leading team in Group E, with 9 points and goal difference of +12, has now qualified for the AFC Challenge Cup 2014, which is scheduled to take place March 8 to 23, 2014 in Maldives.

Turkmenistan actually has also qualified, as one of the two best 2nd placers. The other one is Bangladesh.

It was the first time ever for the Azkals to win over the strong Turkmenistan, the team who defeated them during the semi-finals of the last AFC Challenge Cup in 2012, which had the Philippines settle for 3rd Place, while Turkmenistan battled with North Korea in the finals but they lost, and finished only as the runner up.

The 8 teams who now have qualified for the AFC Challenge Cup 2014 are the following:

Maldives (the host and has qualified automatically)
Myanmar (Group A winner)
Kyrgyztan (Group B winner)
Afghanistan (Group C winner)
Palestine (Group D winner)
Philippines (Group E winner)
Turkmenistan (Group E 2nd placer)
Bangladesh (Group D 2nd placer)
