The 65th FAMAS Awards, this year's last awarding ceremony honoring the best Pinoy films and performances from 2016, has just taken place at the PSS Center in Quezon City.

Daniel Padilla, Angelica Panganiban win acting honors, while Dingdong Dantes, Maine Mendoza get special recognitions at the FAMAS Awards 2017

With 4 movies having a combined total of 38 nominations in 15 categories, producer Star Cinema took home a total of 8 FAMAS trophies, including the Best Actor / Actress awards for Daniel Padilla and Angelica Panganiban. (SEE FAMAS Awards 2017 Nominees List)

It was Daniel's first ever FAMAS Best Actor win after getting nominated for 4 straight years. Earlier this 2017, the PMPC Star Awards also recognized him as Best Actor for the same movie.

As for Angelica, it was already her 3rd time to win at the FAMAS Awards, her first time as FAMAS Best Actress. She previously won as FAMAS Best Supporting Actress for 'Segunda Mano' in 2012 and as FAMAS Best Child Actress for 'Separada' in 1995.

Maine Mendoza meanwhile was the German Moreno Youth Achievement Awardee, shared with fellow Kapusto star Ivan Dorschner. Before this, she was also honored as Dangal ng Kabataan at the 19th PASADO Awards and among the Anak TV Makabata Stars for 2017.
