Kim Ross de los Santos disqualified from Bb. Pilipinas 2016 due to a "scandal photo"

Kim Ross de los Santos, Bb Pilipinas 2016 candidate #20, got disqualified from the pageant due to a photo of her apparently from a fashion shoot showing her being carried by a male model.

Perhaps it was deemed scandalous by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. or BPCI not only because they're naked there, but also of the suggestive nature of the shoot.

Kim Ross' disqualification was revealed by her mentor Jonas Antonio Gaffud of the Aces & Queens in 3 successive Facebook posts. Gaffud, who also mentored Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, expressed strong disappointment over BPCI's decision.

"While I am happy that Grace Poe is qualified to run, I am very disappointed with the lawyers of BPCi for disqualifying Kim Ross delos Santos just for posing for a sexy fashion test shoot. Last year they did not disqualify someone who posed half naked on FHM. Hello? Give justice to Kim Ross!

And balita may naninira raw talaga sa Aces and Queens girls.

It's sad that today, the International Women's Day, our candidate was disqualified because of her work as model. A Filipina model  photographed by the same photographer who worked with BPCI in the past, in an expressive work of art alongside with a respected male internanational supermodel. These works of art are not deemed pornogrpahic. It saddens me that while we celebrate love and equality, the very organization that should uplift women, denies them the chance to demonstrate empowerment. Hello lawyers of the Araneta Group of Companies. Hello Mar Roxas.

This issue of disqualification of a worthy candidate is not just about pageants. It's about hypocrisy. Kim Ross is a model who like Pia, is the breadwinner of her family. She was convinced to join BbPilipinas to perhaps improve their lives better. The lawyers of BPCI did not even check what the photo was about. It did not come out in any publication and was supposed to be a high end fashion shoot by The Doc Marlon who makes artwork not pornography. Now denying Kim her entry means they just shot her dream of becoming a beauty queen without due process, without any lawyer with her. Yes BPCI is a private (supposedly charitable institution). But they involved the public in getting contestants for the pageant. IMHO

And FYI lang again to the lawyers of Araneta Group: you did not disqualify a girl who was also half naked last year that was published on FHM. Why?"

I myself got disappointed as well that Kim Ross de los Santos is now out of the Binibining Pilipinas 2016 race because she's one of my top 2 favorites this year. The other one is Kylie Verzosa, who now has the strongest chance of taking home the Miss Universe Philippines title.

Before Kim Ross, at least two Bb. Pilipinas 2016 candidates were also disqualified but due to height issue. One of them was actress Marlann Flores.

In the past editions of the pageant, there were a number of candidates who also got disqualified due to a sexy photoshoot for a men's magazine, such as Sandra Seifert, who later joined Miss Philippines Earth and won, as well as Grendel Alvarado and Bianca Paz.

Megan Young also got disqualified from joining in 2013 for the same reason. But her luck was in Miss World Philippines where she eventually won, and then was later crowned Miss World 2013.

Maybe Kim Ross should join Miss World Philippines instead later this year. - Mykiru.ph
