MMFF all-time top grosser 'Beauty and the Bestie' becomes highest-grossing Filipino film domestically

Beauty and the Bestie, which earlier this week has claimed the Philippine box office record for being the all-time top grosser of the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), also now owns the record previously held by 'A Second Chance' and 'The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin'.

Star Cinema's Roxy Liquigan has announced via Twitter that the Vice Ganda-Coco Martin-JaDine movie 'Beauty and the Bestie' already grossed P482.2-million after almost 3 weeks in theaters, becoming the highest grossing Pinoy film of all time when it comes to domestic grosses.

The John Lloyd Cruz-Bea Alonzo film 'A Second Chance' is still the all-time highest, when talkin' about worldwide grosses (P556M).

Now, it's exciting how the Guillermo Scholarship Foundation will award the titles Phenomenal Box Office Star (held by Vice Ganda for 4 years now), Box Office King and Box Office Queen.

Since both 'A Second Chance' and 'The Beauty and the Bestie' were able to beat the 2014 record-holder, I think they should award the Phenomenal Box Office Star title to the lead stars of both movies - John Lloyd and Bea, Vice and Coco Martin, just like in 2014, when Vice and Vic Sotto were both honored with the award for different movies (the former for 'Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy', Vic for 'My Little Bossings'). - Mykiru.ph
