SMART free internet for 1 day? Really?

Seems like Christmas has come so early to Smart, Talk 'N Text (TNT) and Sun Cellular users when Smart Communications, Inc. announced earlier today free internet to its loyal PREPAID subscribers. (Sorry postpaid subscribers!)

"All of the 66 million Smart, Talk 'N Text and Sun Cellular Prepaid subscribers can use their data-enabled
cellphones to post updates and pics on Facebook, Twitter and
Instagram, visit their favorite websites, send and receive emails, read their favorite blogs or update their own blogs and listen to
songs via Spinnr all for free," SMART said in its official statement
released today.

To avail of the free mobile internet offer, Smart, Talk N Text and Sun Cellular subscribers must have at least P1 balance. On your cellphones, just type FREE and send it to 9999. For now, the promo is until November 30,
2014.

I have just tried it and here's the confirmation message I got: "The BEST ka sa Smart Prepaid! So we give you FREE INTERNET araw-araw!
Enjoy free internet for the next 24 hours. Promo is valid until
11/30/14. Subject to fair use policy www.smart.com.ph."

The confirmation message does not mention that the internet usage is up to 30MB only. If you exceed that, you'll be charged with the appropriate data charges.

This will surely bring in many new subscribers for Smart, TNT and Sun. But expect Globe (who for a long time before had its subscribers enjoyed free Facebook) to counter this on the coming days. Well, in fact, hours after SMART made the big announcement, GLOBE has already announced that they'll bringing back its free FB promo starting next week.

The choice is all ours: Smart free internet for up to 30MB a day or Globe free unli FB for 1 day? - Mykiru.ph
