Vhong Navarro scores at the box office with "Da Possessed" now his highest grossing movie ever

Vhong Navarro's movie "Da Possessed" earned P122.08-million after 23 days in the box-office, based on the latest Box Office Mojo (BOM)'s report.

Now that easily makes "Da Possessed" as Vhong Navarro's highest-grossing movie ever, beating all his previous hits ('D' Anothers', 'Agent X44', 'Mr. Suave').

The ABS-CBN Star Cinema / Regal co-production has apparently benefited hugely from the "bugbogan" issue involving its lead star Vhong Navarro, which whether he admits it or not has made him a much bigger star. The sympathy of the people has been with him since the issue started in January and definitely helped drove people to flock theaters and watch his latest movie.

"Da Possessed" has also become the 4th Pinoy movie to hit the P100-million mark after 'Starting Over Again' (P410.19M), 'Bride For Rent' (P326.96M) and 'Diary Ng Panget The Movie' (P119.53M).

It's even a more awesome feat for producer Star Cinema since they produced 3 of those 4 films. 'Diary Ng Panget' is under Viva Films.

We have just entered the 5th month of the Year 2014, but over-all box office for Pinoy films has already hit a big milestone this year. Total grosses for all films released the past 4 months is now over P1 billion (P1,024.90B), the first time ever in Philippine history that the mark was reached in less than 5 months.

With so many upcoming movies having great potential, starting from "Maybe This Time" which stars Sarah Geronimo and Coco Martin, and is showing later this month, up to the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival entries, it's very much likely that the combined grosses for all Pinoy films this year will hit P2 billion for the very first time in the country's history.

Here's a breakdown of grosses for all Filipino releases earlier this year. 83.84% of the P1,024.9-billion total gross were earned by Star Cinema films. (All figures courtesy of BOM)
