"Vhong Navarro binugbog ng isang grupo ng kalalakihan!"

That's the shocking news to hit social media last night.

'It's Showtime' host Vhong Navarro was badly injured in a brutal attack inside a condominium at the Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. He's now recovering at the hospital.

According to ABS-CBN News, the attack happened last Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Now we know why Vhong can't be seen hosting on Showtime since Thursday.

The report said, quoting a statement from Vhong's manager, director Chito Roño, Vhong was invited by a female friend to visit her in the Fort condo but only to get tied, then blindfolded and beaten up by a group of men, who also attempted to extort money from the Showtime host.

The identity of both the "girl" friend and the group of men who attacked Vhong remains a mystery as of this posting. (The girl is later identified as Deniece Millinette Cornejo.)

While a CCTV footage could actually exist, a screenshot from the alleged CCTV has been circulating in social media. However, it's not confirmed if it's indeed the real CCTV from the incident. It could be fake, I guess.

There are also rumors swirling around that the girl allegedly ordered the assault, because Vhong tried to rape her. Maybe, let's not speculate and just wait for Vhong to speak up on what really happened.

In his past interviews, he admitted he has a non-showbiz girlfriend for more than 5 years now. (Are they still together?)

GMA News was able to obtain a copy of a police blotter in Taguig stating that a 22-year-old woman filed an attempted rape complaint against Ferdinand Navarro, Vhong's real name, the same evening as the attack. Shocking!

Yahoo! Philippines meanwhile reports that Vhong will take a break from showbiz to undergo surgery.

Let's all pray for his speedy recovery!
