MMFF 2013 Box Office Race to No. 1: Will 2nd Best Picture 'Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy' overtake 'My Little Bossings' as the festival top grosser?

The weekend is over and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is expected to release anytime today the box office gross receipts hopefully for ALL 8 official entries as of 5th Day of the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2013).

Why can't they give results for all entries every day? I so miss those years when they provided day-by-day updates of the box office grosses for the filmfest entries, something they weren't eager to do the past
2 or 3 editions of the festival.

Anyway, according to the Dec. 29 (5th Day) MMFF 2013 box office result, 'My Little Bossings' already passed the P200 million mark, after earning P37.3M in Day 5, now with a 5-day grand total of P202.8M. However, no data are available yet for the other 7 entries.

As we await more results, I have here figures for the current 2 top-grossing films after 4 days of the festival.

"My Little Bossings" has consistently held on to its top spot from Day 1 to 4. It earned P50.4 million during its opening, then added P42.8 million on its 2nd day and P35.5M more on 3rd day.

For its 4th day, P36.8M were collected, to make its 4-day total to P165.5 million.

ABS-CBN publicity head EJ Salut has the exact figures on Twitter: P165,518,225 for 'My Little Bossings' and 'Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy' is so close with P161,777,000.

Looks like Vice Ganda movie is going to overtake the Ryzza Mae Dizon-Bimby James Yap Jr starrer any moment from now, since more theaters have been added for it starting 4th Day. (as per latest count, it's playing in 180 theaters from a previous count of 150)

'Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy' had an opening of P47.6 million, then earned P38.8M on Day 2 to stay on the 2nd slot.

3rd and 4th day collections show that the comedy film grossed P75.4M, which is already above My Little Bossings' gross of P72.3M from 3rd to 4th Day.

Winning 2nd Best Picture and perhaps the Best Actress honor for Maricel Soriano during the awards night last Friday probably boosted more ticket sales for GBBT the next day, as it now attracts more audience than MLB, which was awarded 3rd Best Picture.

More than a week left in the festival, and these 2 films will definitely continue to compete close and tight for the #1 ranking in the box office. Which movie is your bet to be the MMFF 2013 Top
Grosser?
