'Call Center Girl' vs 'When the Love is Gone' Box Office Battle: Which movie won?

Two Pinoy films, 'Call Center Girl' and 'When the Love is Gone', both opened in theaters last November 27. Which movie won the box office?

The comedy film 'Call Center Gill' starring Pokwang, Enchong Dee and Jessy Mendiola or the romance drama film 'When the Love is Gone' starring Cristine Reyes, Jake Cuenca, Andi Eigenmann, Alice Dixson and Gabby Concepcion?

Neither of the two films topped the Philippine box office during the period November 27 to December 1, 2013 as foreign films 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' (on its 2nd week, with P66.6M earnings) and 'Frozen' (also on its opening week, with P40.2M) took the Top 2 places.

But between the two Filipino releases, it's 'Call Center Girl' which grossed higher than 'When Love is Gone', based on Box Office Mojo's tabulation.

'Call Center Girl' earned P33.8 million during its first 5 days in cinemas, which is actually quite a good start for this low-budgeted Star Cinema-Skylight film, beating last Summer's 'Bromance: My Brother's Romance' which had same producers and earned P32.3M for its 5-day opening.

It's even higher than last year's '24/7 in Love' which had much bigger stars and was also a pre-Christmas movie from Star Cinema but only grossed P33.3M.

The movie also performed better than "Momzillas", another comedy film co-produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films which was shown last September and starred Maricel Soriano and Eugene Domingo. No available data for the first 5 days of "Momzillas", but it was reported to have earned P33.5M during its first week (7-day tally).

Even the mega-budgeted comedy-fantasy film "Kung Fu Divas" topbilled by 2 queens in Philippine showbiz (Ai-Ai dela Alas and Marian Rivera) performed weaker than "Call Center Girl", earning only P25.8-million on its 1st week in theaters.

Viva Film's 'When the Love is Gone' meanwhile had a soft opening last week, taking in only P18.8M gross in 5 days. That's much lower than Viva's previous films of the same genre, such as 'No Other Woman' in 2011 and 'A Secret Affair' in 2012 which both opened above P50M.
