UAAP Season 76: Double overtime win ends FEU Tamaraws' 2-game losing streak

FEU Tamaraws finally won in the 2nd Round of UAAP Season 76 Men's Basketball (Seniors). They defeated the UE Red Warriors in what considered as the longest game of the
season held today at the Araneta Coliseum.

Even without RR Garcia, the Tamaraws had a convincing double overtime win versus the Red Warriors, who could have won if only they lessened the misses in freethrows during the 2nd overtime.

Heavily-criticized Terrence Romeo has redeemed himself in the game (though he's kinda annoying for me in some parts of the game), leading the Tamaraws with big 30 points.

UE had Roi Sumang (26 points), Ralf Olivares (21 pts) and Charles Mammie (17 pts) scoring the most for the team. It's amazing that Mammie recorded 27 rebounds this game.

UE vs FEU Quarter Scores: 13-28, 31-42, 46-59, 70-70, 85-85 1OT, 94-98 2OT

With this win, FEU is still the winningest team so far with 8 wins and only 2 losses. UE meanwhile is still 3rd in the standings, with 6 wins, 4 losses.

Also held today was the game between Adamson University Soaring Falcons and Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles.

Just like in their 1st Round face-off, Ateneo won again, 79-66.

Quarter Scores: 13-19, 26-33, 32-57, 66-79

Top scorers for Ateneo were Kiefer Ravena and Ryan Buenafe, both with 18 points, while Adamson's top scorer was Ingrid Sewa with 14 pts.

It's now Ateneo's 4th straight win, and for the first time this season, they now have more wins than losses, 5-4, to put them in the Top 4 for the moment, tied in 4th with archrival La Salle.

UAAP Season 76 Team Standings, as of August 25, 2013:

1. FEU Tamaraws 8-2
2. NU Bulldogs 7-3
3. UE Red Warriors 6-4
4. De La Salle Green Archers 5-4
4. Ateneo Blue Eagles 5-4
6. UST Growling Tigers 4-5
7. Adamson Soaring Falcons 3-7
8. UP Fighting Maroons 0-9

What's next? FEU vs Ateneo and UST vs Adamson this Wednesday, Aug. 28, still at the Araneta Coliseum.
