23-year-old Megan Young, an actress and a Digital Filmmaking student but a pageant newbie, won over 24 other candidates, who were mostly pageant veterans such as her runners-up Janicel Lubina (Mutya ng Palawan 2012, Miss SCUBA Philippines 2012, Miss Bikini Philippines 2013) and Bianca Paz, who also finished 3rd Princess in the same pageant 2 years ago.
The former StarStruck finalist who's currently a Star Magic artist also received the most special awards: Miss Sports by FILA, Best in Fashion Runway, Miss Olay, Miss Reducin, Miss Figlia, Miss Bold & Beautiful by Revlon, Miss Bench Body and Miss World Laguna.
With each special award having P50,000 cash prize, Megan Young's total winnings is estimated to be over P1.5-million, since she also took home P1M worth of management contract plus other prizes from sponsors.
Just like Binibining Pilipinas Universe winners Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup, Janine Tugonon and Ariella Arida, and even her predecessor, Miss World Philippines 2012 Queenierich Rehman, Megan Young is also under Jonas Gaffud's Aces & Queens.
During the final Question and Answer portion, all 5 finalists were asked, "Why do you want to be Miss World Philippines?" And Megan Young's winning answer? "Miss World Philippines is selfless, and to be selfless, you need to have a heart. If I become Miss World Philippines, I would pour my heart and soul into helping others. That's what Miss World is: beauty in giving."

The Philippines now has a very strong chance of having its first Miss World titleholder. Megan will fly to Indonesia next month to compete against 100+ candidates for the Miss World 2013 title.
But before Megan, let's support first Mutya Johanna Datul, who's now in Belarus to compete for the Miss Supranational 2013 title. Finals will be on September 6.
