FIBA Asia 2013 Gilas Pilipinas vs Chinese Taipei Results: Chinese Taipei beats the Philipines, 79-84

FIBA Asia 2013 is down to its last 2 games for its preliminary round: Philippines vs Chinese Taipei and Saudi Arabia vs Jordan, both from Group A.

The latter game will decide who between Saudi Arabia and Jordan will join Philippines and Chinese Taipei in the Second Round.

I'm blogging below live updates and results of the Philippines vs Chinese Taipei game, which is being aired live by TV5.

Starting 5 lineup for the Philippines: Jayson Castro, Gary David, Ranidel de Ocampo, Gabe Norwood and Marcus Douthit, while Chinese Taipei's first 5 were Quincy Davis, Hsueh-Lin Lee, Lei Tien, Chih-Chieh Lin and Cheng-Ju Lu.

Game started 8:30PM on my clock.

9:25 Ranidel De Ocampo scored first 3-point shot for the Philippines.

9:09 Lei Tien scored first 2 for Chinese Taipei.

5:53 4 minutes passed the 1st Quarter, Chinese Taipei is leading so far, 4-12. Tien scored 7 of the 12.

4:33 And the lead went up to 12 points. 6-18.

End of 1st Q: 19-30 for Chinese Taipei

2ND QUARTER
8:32 TPE's lead down to 6. 24-30. Thanks to Larry Fonacier's 2-point and 3-point shots.

7:38 And it went down to just 3 after a 3 by Jimmy Alapag. 27-30.

6:36 Scores now tied at 30 after Alapag made a layup and got fouled getting a penalty shot.

4:39 PH's score stuck at 30, while TPE is doing successive shots. 30-38.

4:25 Alapag again. 1 freethrow and a 2-point shot. 33-38.

1:43 PH posts biggest lead of 13, 66-53.

0:20 Chih-Chieh Lin gets fouled again, this time by Alapag and makes 1 of 2 freethrows. 79-84. At this point, PH already lost the chance to change the outcome of the game.

Two players from Chinese Taipei hit 20+ in the scoreboard (Cheng-Ju LU, 22 points and Chih-Chieh Lin, 20 points), while the Philippines only has 1 (Larry Fonacier, 21 points).

Chinese Taipei now leads Group A with 3 wins (6 points), while the Philippines ranks 2nd with 2-1 (5 points). Even before this game, these 2 teams have already qualified for the Second Round.
