FIBA Asia 2013 Gilas Pilipinas vs Qatar Final Scores - 80-70

Gilas Pilipinas survived their toughest game in the 2nd Round of FIBA Asia Championship 2013. The team faced the undefeated Qatar and they won!

The game started really tight, both scoring 20 in the 1st Quarter, but it's completely a different story in the 2nd quarter, with Gilas Pilipinas posting big lead of 20 and finished 1st half with an 18-point lead, 47-29.

3rd Quarter ended with 63-44, still for the Philippines. Marcus Douthit already has 16 points at this point. Will a Gilas player finally hit the 20s again this time? So far, only Larry Fonacier reached that level during their game against Chinese Taipei.

But sadly, Douthit got injured in the 4th quarter and finished the game again with 19 points, just like in their game last night versus Japan.

Japeth Aguilar also put on a great show with his amazing dunks and tallied 14 points. Jeff Chan had 12 points.

Qatar's top scorers were Jarvis Hayes having 17 points, Erfan Ali Saeed with 13 points and Khalid Suliman Abdi scoring 9 points.

Final scores 80-70, with Qatar on their first loss ever in the 2013 FIBA Asia.

Philippines now ranks 2nd in Group E after win versus Qatar.

GROUP E TEAM STANDINGS as of Aug. 6:
Chinese Taipei 4 wins-0 loss (8 pts)
Philippines 3-1 (7 pts)
Qatar 3-1 (7 pts)
Japan 1-3 (5 pts)
Jordan 1-3 (5 pts)
Hong Kong 0-4 (4 pts)

And even if Gilas Pilipinas lose tomorrow, August 7, versus Hong Kong, they will already qualify to the quarterfinals along with Chinese Taipei, Qatar and the winner between Jordan and Japan.
