The 7th Asian Film Awards or AFA 2013 winners were announced last night in Hong Kong with our very own Nora Aunor and Eddie Garcia as the Best Actress and Best Actor winners.

The only 2 winners from the Philippines, Nora Aunor, 59, won for 'Thy Womb' while Eddie Garcia, 87, was honored for 'Bwakaw', which was the country's entry to the 85th Academy Awards Best Foreign Language Film category.

It's quite interesting to note that just last week, Nora and Eddie both lost at local PMPC Star Awards for Movies 2013.

Nora lost to young actress Angel Locsin, while Eddie lost to
politician-actor ER Ejercito, but now the two senior actors have just won honors from an international award-giving body, which somehow
could be a vindication of their loss in their own homeland.

Both Bicolano actors, the two already reaped international awards for the same films before AFA. Nora was the Best Actress at the 6th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) in Australia and in a film festival in Italy, while Eddie was Best Actor at the 55th Asia Pacific Film Festival (APFF) in Macau.

Probably, Nora Aunor is already among the most awarded Asian actresses in the international scene. In the past, she already won at Cairo International Film Festival and at Cannes Film Festival as well as in other filmfests held in Belgium and Malaysia.
