'24/7 in Love' Movie a box office disappointment?

Advertisements
'24/7 in Love' Movie by Star Cinema failed to impress in the Philippine box-office, despite starring the biggest and most bankable stars of ABS-CBN's Star Magic, such as John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Piolo Pascual, Angelica Panganiban, Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson and many more.

For its first 5 days, '24/7 In Love' only earned P33.26-million and now has a 12-day total of just P56.21-million.

It's obviously performing below Star Cinema standards and can be considered a box-office disappointment.

Usually, John Lloyd Cruz's movies in the past 5 years already hit the P100M mark after 12 days, and '24/7 in Love' might be an exception, for it won't hit that mark, even if it has until Dec. 24th in some theaters. (Some SM Cinemas are no longer running this film starting yesterday, Dec. 5.)

But at least, it's earning higher than Piolo-Angelica movie last May, 'Every Breath U Take', which had 5-day gross of P25.52M and 12-day gross of P42.83M.

It's also doing just slightly better than the movie 'The Reunion' last August which starred also a bunch of Star Magic talents led by Enchong Dee and earned P31.21M for its 1st 5 days and P55.57M in 12 days. But it can be considered a more favorable box-office results than the super
star-studded '24/7 in Love'.

What went wrong?

Probably because, '24/7 in Love' faced tough competitions with foreign films such as 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2', 'Paranormal Activity 4' and 'Rise of the
Guardians'.

In 3 weeks alone, 'Breaking Dawn 2' already earned P319.69M, already the 3rd highest-grossing film in the Philippines for 2012, behind
'Marvel's The Avengers' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man'.
