James Yap, Azkals honored at PSA Awards 2011

James Yap and the Azkals were among the awardees at the 2011 Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA)-Coca Cola Awards held at the Manila Hotel last weekend.

James Yap was bestowed with the PSA Pro Basketball Player Award while the Azkals (photo) receieved the PSA Presidential Award.

Azkals' team manager Dan Stephen Palami also received an award, as Executive of the Year.

The Philippine football team, who has also brought honors for the country in 2010, was not the one named as Athletes of the Year, the highest award being given by the PSA and was won by boxing icon Manny Pacquiao 5 times already.

This year's Athlete of the Year award is shared by four athlethes who have also won in international competitions. Those four recipients are all deserving though.

Pacquiao, who's now a PSA Hall of Famer, also graced the event as guest speaker and took part in handing out the awards.

METRO's March 2011 issue is dedicating 8 pages for the dazzling Maja Salvador and I'm telling you she has lots of sex appeal on her shots.

And guess who's with Maja in 2 pages there? It's not Coco Martin who plays her leading man in "Minsang Lang Kita Iibigin" which had a successful pilot last night, but it's the sporty hunk Matteo Guidicelli. And they look so good together there.

Pilipinas Got Talent, MMK battle for top nationwide | Eat Bulaga still rules weekend in Mega Manila

Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 was the #1 program nationwide during its pilot weekend (February 26 - 27, 2011), but for its 2nd weekend (March 5 - 6, 2011), PGT had to give way to MMK which landed on top of nationwide program rankings.

The MMK episode last Saturday, which featured Aiko Melendez and Dominic Ochoa, garnered 31.8% rating to rank #1, with PGT in close 2nd scoring 31.5%.

Meanwhile, Eat Bulaga was still #1 in Mega Manila last weekend, followed by Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho, MMK and PGT.

Youtube video of a little girl crying over Mara's death on 'Mara Clara' reaches more than a million views

A super young viewer (a little girl) over-reacted and cried to death when "Mara" (played by Kathryn Bernardo) died on the hit ABS-CBN teleserye 'Mara Clara', as shown on its episode last Friday, March 4.

The cry-ola moment of the kid was caught on video and was posted on Youtube hours after watching that heartbreaking episode of 'Mara Clara'.

And the uploader titled the video as: "Mara Clara Reaction: How Mara Clara affect my sister's life. :))))))".

I learned about the video only yesterday when Juan Lim posted a link to the video on Mykiru's Facebook Page.

And upon checking the video, I'm surprised to see that it already has over half a million views. Wow!

Expect the little girl to get featured in the news this week.

Poor girl. She really believes Mara died, just like other viewers who were affected by that scene.

I believe it was Lenita (Jamilla Obispo) who got burnt and died.

It just goes to show how effective 'Mara Clara' is, even if that explosion scene and the protagonist appeared to have died have been used many times already as plot line in previous ABS-CBN soaps such as 'Mula Sa Puso' and most recently in 'Alyna' and 'Kristine'.

I just wish Mara won't have an amnesia when she re-appears in the show.

This week's episode of 'Mara Clara' will show the funeral and burial of someone they believe as Mara.

Gerald Anderson trends on Twitter because he's bisexual?

Gerald Anderson has revealed he is bisexual, according to Whatthetrend.com, a site that explains why a particular topic or term is trending on Twitter.

Gerald guested on 'The Buzz' earlier for a birthday treat and also an
early promo for his upcoming movie 'Catch Me...I'm in Love' with Sarah Geronimo.

And he immediately made it to Twitter's Top 10 Trending Topics worldwide.

But many fans of Gerald reacted on the description as to why he's trending on Twitter and it said that he has just revealed he is a
bisexual.

They were alarmed and wondered if Gerald indeed revealed that on The Buzz.

Twitter user @yetkl was able to capture it on his iphone the
description provided by whatthetrend.com:

Blame it to Twitter user @Jayjayaitch 'coz he's the one who provided
the wrong description.

Upon checking the website, it now has a new (correct) description for
Gerald Anderson. It now says, "He is a well-known actor in the Philippines. He was interviewed in The Buzz by Boy Abunda. It's his
22nd birthday tomorrow and he has a new movie coming entitled Catch
Me...I'm in Love with Sarah Geronimo which comes out on March 23,
2011."

But I think he was trending because he admitted on The Buzz that Kim Chiu was his first love.

Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2: Marcelito Pomoy, who sings like Regine Velasquez, is an early favorite

Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 contestant Marcelito Pomoy from Imus, Cavite, has become an instant favorite by the viewers of the said reality talent search after his audition was shown last night, March 5, 2011.

During the audition, Marcelito Pomoy sang Regine Velasquez's 'Narito Ako' to the surprise of the judges and the audience 'coz he sounds very much like Regine.

Yeah, and he is not an 'Anton Diva' 'coz when judge Kris Aquino asked, "Lalake ka talaga?" Marcelito said "yes".

He was also asked to sing more. He sang another Regine hit 'Sana Maulit Muli' and the song "Hanggang Ngayon", a duet of Ogie Alcasid and Regine.

For 'Hanggang Ngayon', he was able to do "doble-kara", sounding like both Ogie and Regine.

Marcelito's got an incredible talent that even judge Ai-Ai delas Alas commented, "Tapos na ang contest. May winner na."

'Mutya' vs 'Captain Barbell' beginning March 21

Richard Gutierrez as 'Captain Barbell' will be up against 'Mutya' on Philippine Primetime beginning March 21.

'Captain Barbell' is airing earlier than planned to save GMA 7 from being completely drowned in the ratings by the strong force of ABS-CBN's 'Mutya', 'Mara Clara' and 'Imortal' plus the new soap 'Minsang Lang Kita Iibigin' which debuts tomorrow, March 7.

'Captain Barbell' will be replacing 'Machete' which starting last Friday was moved to a later timeslot and will already end on March 18, barely 2 months after it premiered last Jan. 24. (It's being axed allegedly because of poor ratings.)

But 'Captain Barbell' will not be taking over the timeslot of 'Machete' 'coz it will air right after '24 Oras' and will go against 'Mutya', which has successfully beaten 'Dwarfina' both in Mega Manila and Nationwide.

'Captain Barbell' might also be in competition with 'Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin', meaning it will be facing two rival shows.

Richard Gutierrez indeed is under pressure to help GMA 7 claim back its primetime supremacy, which was lost late January when ABS-CBN's 'Mara Clara' consistently topped the ratings chart.

So, what will be your choice starting March 21? Captain Barbell or Mutya?

Chris Brown has newly-leaked photos online, where he's shown fully-exposed, as in totally naked.

The photos first leaked on WorldStarHipHop.com stating that they were leaked by Chris Brown's ex-girlfriend.

The photos show a blonde and tattooed Chris Brown doing a self-shot in front of the mirror, fully naked exposing his impressive manhood.

And I must say, the controversial RnB singer is truly a "DAKOTA Fanning" and "LONG Mejia."

It's so unbelievably in perfection that some people believe it's just photoshopped. They say, the upper part of the photo is Chris' but the lower part is possibly owned by someone else and was just attached to his body.

I think it's really his 'coz Chris already had leaked pics in 2007, and he really got a huge possession.

Others also believe that Chris Brown's leaked photos were just a publicity for his F.A.M.E. which will be released on March 22.

SexBomb Dancers guesting on Happy Yipee Yehey! surprised many viewers

SexBomb Dancers (minus Rochelle Pangilinan, Jopay Paguia, Aira Bermudez) made their first ever Kapamilya guesting yesterday, March 05, via the new noontime show 'Happy, Yipee, Yehey!"

The group who became popular as regular dancers/hosts on GMA 7's 'Eat Bulaga' surprised many noontime viewers when they did the opening for Happy, Yipee, Yehey! on ABS-CBN.

Though it's no longer a surprise for some online users because their guesting was already reported days before, a lot of viewers were still surprised to see the SexBomb Girls dancing and singing not on Eat Bulaga! but on its rival noontime show, which only premiered less than a month ago.

During their guesting, they sang and danced to the tune of 'Happy, Yipee, Yehey' theme song and also their signature hit 'Spaghetti'.

Some of the SexBomb Girls were also part of the show's 'Happy Ka-Family' segment.

Being a regular in the show is a possibility for the group since they're no longer in contract with GMA 7 (except for Rochelle and Aira).

SexBomb Dancers allegedly have been removed from Eat Bulaga! 2 weeks ago, after Joy Cancio, the group's manager, accepted ABS-CBN's offer to be the choreographer for 'Happy, Yipee, Yehey!'.

Phil Younghusband has photos circulating on Twitter, where he's shown in super close and sweet moments with a girl named Denisse Oca.

And allegedly, the woman is Phil Younghusband's girlfriend. Oh no?!

Mykiru got a tweet from @chakaness late Friday night pointing me to Twitpic photos of Phil Younghusband and that Denisse Oca. (Who is she? You might ask.)

Denisse is 23 years old and the eldest daughter of actress Melissa Mendez.

She also sent a tweet to @chakaness saying that she never slept with Phil. "@chakaness Who are these so-called friends you talk about? Phil's just a friend, we went out on a few friendly dates, I NEVER slept w/ him."

@chakaness replied, "Totoo walang steady si Phil kasi he prefers one night stands. Wag ka mag-deny Denisse Oca na di mo natikman si Phil. Kalat na sa Republiq."

According to @chakaness, it's Denisse who's been telling the whole world that something happened between her and Phil Younghusband that evening.

Denying that she's the one who started the issue, Denisse posted: "This issue has been blown out of proportion. Pls know that these rumors aren't true & I never started it. My REAL friends can attest to that."

Facebook Scandal 2011: 'Alexander Rible - Annika Scandal' and '3 Police Officers in Naked Photos'

Facebook is indeed not just a social networking and chatting website, but it seems like it's also a good venue for uploading of scandal photos and videos, which is actually bad.

In 2010, we encountered many Facebook scandals.

Mykiru was able to blog about a video scandal of two gay high school students as well as the "Edwardson Base video scandal", both were posted and circulated on Facebook.

And now, too early this 2011, two new scandals have also originated from Facebook.

First, the scandal photos of three police officers from Iloilo. Only one of them (PO1 Christian Ray Gallofin) was naked in the photos, flashing his 'private gun' with 2 of his fellow policemen in the background (PO1 Rolando Rivera and PO1 Jay-R Evangelio).

It was Rivera who uploaded their own naked photos on Facebook, just for fun!

But still, they're cops who shouldn't be doing it in the first place. According to a report from ABS-CBN, the said 3 policemen have been dismissed already from their job.

The other new Facebook scandal involves naked photos of Annika (not her real name), an HRM student at St. Jude College.

The pictures were allegedly posted by her own professor and ex-lover, identified as Alexander Rible, also the Dean of HRM Dep't in the said school.

The Daily Tribune reports that Rible is now facing 3 criminal charges, one is a violation of the 'cyberboso law' which was enacted following the scandal of Hayden Kho Jr and Katrina Halili in 2009, but the law is still on its 'trial' stage.

The photos were allegedly taken by Rible while Annika was asleep, and later leaked them on FB after the student broke up with the professor.

Maria Aragon, Thia Megia or Charice: Who's the best singer?

Maria Aragon, Thia Megia and Charice are three young Filipinas who are making headlines around the world for their incredible talent in singing.

And definitely, all three of them are making us all proud to be Filipinos.

10-year-old Fil-Canadian Maria Aragon rose to fame after Lady Gaga discovered her singing "Born This Way" on Youtube.

She got invited to appear on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "Good Morning America", and just last Thursday, she performed on stage with no less than Lady Gaga. And it all happened in just 2 weeks.

From 'America's Got Talent', Thia Megia meanwhile is again making a name for herself as among the Final 13 of American Idol Season 10. This Fil-Am girl is only 15, but sounds and sings like a pro, that even American Idol host Ryan Seacrest couldn't believe she's just 15.

She recently impressed the American Idol judges with "Out Here On My Own" and even reminded them of Michael Jackson.

Thia will definitely stay longer in the competition and let's all hope that she'll be the first Pinoy to win on American Idol.

Charice on one hand has achieved a lot already, including her GLEE-ful performances.

She also started gaining recognition at a young age of 15 and she will certainly continue to bring honor for our country.

You've heard them all sing and definitely they all sing great, but I want to know, who among them sings the best?

Maria Aragon, Lady Gaga 'Born This Way' duet at Toronto concert (Watch video!)

Maria Aragon and Lady Gaga singing together.Maria Aragon and Lady Gaga finally met each other during the latter's 'Monster Ball' concert in Toronto, Canada on Thursday.

Maria Aragon is the 10-year-old Filipino-Canadian who instantly became an internet sensation when Lady Gaga herself saw her Youtube video singing Gaga hit 'Born This Way' and posted it on Twitter.

As of this posting, the said video already has more than 17 million views.

The two already had the chance to talk to each other via phone patch when Maria guested on a radio show in Canada and there, Lady Gaga invited Aragon to perform for her concert in Canada on March 4.

Aragon has also guested on Ellen DeGeneres Show and Good Morning America.

And then the big day came, Maria Aragon and Lady Gaga performed together 'Born This Way' at Air Canada Center in Toronto.

Paquito Diaz once played basketball for the Ateneo Blue Eagles and also for the FEU Tamaraws with brother Romy Diaz

Paquito Diaz is already dead and the whole showbiz industry is mourning for his death as he is considered an icon in Philippine movies.

Diaz was definitely among the most popular villains in the country.

I think he's the most famous villain of all, 'coz when we think of a male "kontrabida" in the movies, first name comes into most people's minds is Paquito Diaz (with Bella Flores as his female counterpart).

He did more than 200 movies, mostly action films and he usually played contravida to the late Fernando Poe Jr.

His last film was "Pakners" shown in 2003 and starred Fernando Poe Jr, Efren 'Bata' Reyes, Oyo Sotto and Toni Gonzaga.

During his younger years, Paquito was a popular basketball star. He played for FEU Tamaraws (during High School) along with brother Romy Diaz and also for Ateneo Blue Eagles (during College).

Thia Megia makes it to Top 13 of American Idol Season 10

A big hurray to Fil-Am Thia Megia who's now in the finals of American Idol Season 10.

On Thursday's episode of American Idol Season 10, Thia Megia was among the Top 10 Finalists who got the highest number of votes from the viewers.

Thia performed "Out Here On My Own" during Wednesday's episode, and was praised by the judges.

And definitely, the viewers loved it too as she was among the 10 finalists chosen by them thru toll-free phone, AT&T text and the new Facebook voting.

Thia was the 7th to be called as finalist.

Three wildcard finalists were selected by the judges from the 14 contestants who were eliminated, thus expanding the official number of finalists to 13.

Unfortunately, Clint Jun Gamboa, another Fil-Am contestant, failed to make it to the Top 10 nor being selected as one of the 3 wildcard picks.

But still it feels so proud that a Filipina made it to the finals, after Ramielle Malubay did it in Season 7.

Phil Younghusband reacts on Angelica Panganiban's Twitter remarks

Phil Younghusband has reacted on Angelica Panganiban's Twitter remarks against him posted Thursday afternoon.

Reacting on the news that Phil Younghusband has an indie film coming up, Angelica advised Phil to just concentrate on football.

She even suggested that Phil should just join Pinoy Big Brother if he wants to be in showbiz.

On Bandila's newscast last night, Phil aired his side on the issue. “I don’t think Angelica probably realized it," Phil tells Bandila. "The indie film was not me acting. It’s not about me getting into acting or being an artista. It’s about football. It’s about promoting football. Maybe she just misunderstood it."

Phil has been very vocal before that football is still his utmost priority.

Angelica making remarks against Phil caused her to have a heated argument with an Azkals fan on Twitter, and she's now planning to sue that Twitter user because of "below-the-belt" comments thrown against her.

Is Angelica Panganiban just envious of the Philippine football team (Azkals), who's now getting full support from the government and the Filipino people, unlike in frisbee, where her boyfriend Derek Ramsay is a player?

Because when interviewed last night on TV Patrol with regards to the issue, Angelica did mention about Derek funding the Philippine Frisbee team while the Philipine football team is getting lots of donations.

“Iyong tao (referring to Derek) ginagawa na lahat, sinasabi pa nilang walang nauuwi iyong tao kapag nakikipaglaban siya abroad which is nakakainit ng ulo kasi every time lumalaban siya lagi silang nanalo. Si Derek mismo ang nagbabayad at nagbibigay ng funds para sa Philippine team ng frisbee," Angelica said on TV Patrol. "Nakakatawa kasi ang football ang dami dami nilang nakukuhang donations pero ang lalaki na ng ulo nila."

Now we know why she had to make those comments.

More and more people definitely are going to get envious of the Azkals' success because they're just starting actually.

And yet, they're already hot.

They're being featured in the news everyday. They did lots of TV guestings, are featured on various magazines starting this month and lots of endorsements are coming for them.

Just a day after Phil and James Younghusband were launched as brand ambassadors for Collezione C2 clothing last Tuesday, Phil was launched as endorser of Hush Puppies shoes. And there's more to come.

Paquito Diaz has died, son Joko Diaz confirms

Veteran actor Paquito Diaz (Real Name: Francisco Bustillos Diaz) has died on Thursday night, March 3, 2011, at his residence in Daraga, Albay.


ABS-CBN's SNN and Bandila both reported about Paquito Diaz's death late last night and according to their news reports, Paquito died of pneumonia complications at 8:20 PM.

His death came 4 days after he was falsely declared dead by the doctors at Estevez Memorial Hospital in Legazpi City, Albay.

And this time, it's really true as Paquito's son and former actor Joko Diaz himself confirmed it to actor Tirso Cruz:

He was 73 (May 28, 1937 – March 3, 2011).

Angelica Panganiban gets into Twitter war because of Phil Younghusband

Angelica Panganiban drew mixed reactions when she said on Twitter that Azkals' Phil Younghusband should concentrate on playing football and not entering showbiz.

Earlier this afternoon, Angelica Panganiban reacted on the news that Phil Younghusband is starring in an indie film.

Angelica tweeted, "si phil may indie film... Akala ko ba football player sya??? :( lahat na lang artista na :( sad..."

And then she further explained, "masama. Sana lang mag focus muna silang lahat sa football. Para sa pinas kasi yun. #justsayin' after na lang ng tourny mag artista."

She got mixed reactions from other Twitter users, either Azkals fans or not. Some agreed, but others didn't like what she said, including a fan named Baby Morales (@anilmorales).

And to those who disagreed, here's what Angelica said to them, "Ang kitid ng utak ng iba. D ko sinasabing ang gusto ko eh ako lang ang artista. Kung gusto pala nya mag artista, sana d na sya nag football."

Angelica then went on to say that Phil should have joined Pinoy Big Brother and not the Azkals team. "Sana sa pbb sya sumali :) d sa azkals. Baka mapuyat sya sa shooting d sya makalaro ng maayos. Gets nyo ba ko? O buong araw natin to issue?"

Twitter user @Clemea asked Angelica, "..ayaw mo po (siyang mag-artista)??"

She answered, "Ok lang naman. Sana lang wag pabayaan ang paglaro :) para d mapahiya :) like pacman."

According to Angelica, she's worried that Phil might enjoy acting more than football, "Magaling mag football si phil. Stick to that muna :) kakasimula pa lang natin sa football. Baka mas magenjoy sya sa acting. Sayang."

"Ayan. Ok na ha? Concerned citizen lang po ako. Theres no need to promote FB (football) everynight na sila nasa news. Magandang promotion na yun. "

But Angelica later on got into a heated exchange of tweets with @anilmorales who brought up Angelica's boyfriend Derek Ramsay into the issue.

@anilmorales to @IamAngelicaP: "yung boyfriend mo,na sobrang trying hard magpaka athlete wala namang naiuwing kahit ano"

Angel replied to that and said, "@anilmorales Ay napakadami! ikaw may nauwi ka na? Na magiging proud kaming pinoy? Dinamay ko bf mo dito? Kayo ba ni phil? Jowa ka? Ganda mo niii!!"

And it simply didn't end up there. They continued to argue and throw harsh words against each other.
