Only 2 of the 8 entries in the 36th Metro Manila Film Festival or MMFF 2010 have been graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).

And these are the period drama film "Rosario" and the 3D animated film "RPG Metanoia".

"Rosario" is the first directorial movie of critically-acclaimed actor Albert Martinez, co-produced by Cinemabuhay International and Studio 5. It stars Jennylyn Mercado, Dennis Trillo, Sid Lucero and Yul Servo in their award-worthy performances.

"RPG Metanoia" meanwhile takes pride as the 1st 3D animated movie ever produced in the Philippines. Directed by Louie Suarez, it features voices of Zaijian Jaranilla, Vhong Navarro, Eugene Domingo and Aga Muhlach.

And since the MMFF 2010 criteria for Best Picture no longer includes box-office receipts, is it now safe to say that either Rosario or RPG Metanoia will win as Best Picture? We will see come Awards Night on December 26.

As for the other MMFF 2010 entries, 2 were given a grade of B ("Dalaw", "Super Inday & the Golden Bibe") while no reported grade for the 4 other films ("Si Agimat at Si Enteng Kabisote", "Shake, Rattle & Roll 12", "Father Jejemon", "Ang Tanging Ina Mo: Last Na 'To").

The MMFF 2010 Parade of Stars happens tomorrow, December 24, and the showing officially starts Christmas Day, December 25.

  1. But then again this year set of jurors are distinct almost 50% of the members of the jury are ordinary people so there is still tendency that some of the films will make a big shock on Sunday.
