Miss Earth 2009 Swimsuit Competition (Group 1)

Miss Earth 2009 "Group 1" candidates, consisting of 26 beauties, competed in the preliminary swimsuit competition yesterday at the Golden Sunset Village Resort & Spa in Calatagan, Batangas.

Group 1 was composed of Misses Albania, Australia, Bahamas, China, Colombia, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Gabon, Georgia, Guadeluope, Hongkong, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Martinique, Pakistan, Poland, Spain, South Africa, Tonga, Ukraine and Venezuela.

They were all breathtakingly gorgeous and sexy, but 5 of them stood out above the rest and were named Top 5 Best in Swimsuit:

Two special awards were also handed out.

Miss Spain Alejandra Echevarria was Gandang Ricky Reyes awardee while Miss Cuba Jamillette Gaxiola was named Miss Golden Sunset Resort & Spa.

The Group 3 will be the next to compete in swimsuit today, November 08 at the Central Country Estate, Inc.'s The Lakeshore in Mexico, Pampanga while Group 1 is scheduled on the 12th in Legazpi City, Albay.

According to Mykiru's source, Philippines' Prince of Ballad Ronnie Liang will serenade the candidates tonight and will also sit as one of the judges.

The Top 5 from Group 1 will compete against the Top 5 from Group 2 and Top 5 from Group 3 for the Final Swimsuit Competition on November 14 in Pampanga.

The Preliminary Evening Gown Competition for Group 3 candidates was also held simultaneously with the Swimsuit Competition last night, but in a separate place.

Members of Group 3 are: Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Greece, Guam, Honduras, Kosovo, Macau, Malta, Mexico, Nepal, Northern Ireland, Peru, Puerto Rico, Russia, Samoa, Scotland, Singapore, Slovenia, Switzerland, Tahiti, Tanzania and Thailand.

It was held at Subic, Olongapo City and Top 5 Best in Evening Gown were also announced:

Miss Bolivia Dominique Peltier not participating in Miss Earth 2009

One of the pre-pageant favorites, Miss Bolivia Dominique Peltier will not be competing in Miss Earth 2009 pageant in the Philippines.

Health Problems was the reason cited by Promociones Gloria, the one in-charge of the Miss Bolivia pageant, in their official statement released via Megavision TV show Divinas & Famosos.

It's sad to know the news especially that Miss Bolivia Dominique Peltier could have been one of the favorites for the Miss Earth 2009 title.

She already competed in the Miss Universe 2009 pageant in the Bahamas.

Miss Bolivia is not the first confirmed delegate to drop out in Miss Earth 2009.

Miss Vietnam Truong Thi May earlier also withdrew from the pageant because of leg injury and was advised by her doctor to rest.

With Bolivia's non-participation, the number of delegates is down to 86, but 9 of them still have not arrived yet because of flight delays.

Guys kissing in Big Brother Finland

It seems like a very normal thing in Big Brother Finland to kiss, even if the two housemates are both male.

PBB Double Up housemate Cathy Remperas saw it herself while having a sauna bath with the Finnish housemates and they were playing a truth or dare game.

Housemate Sampo was dared to kiss Aso and they gamely kissed in front of Cathy, much to her surprise.

Even before that happened, Aso has already been spotted kissing with another male housemate named Toni.

Probably kissing has been their favorite pasttime.

Katlin, who is in PBB Double Up, even shared to the Filipino housemates that in Big Brother Finland, the housemates kiss a lot.

In fact, Katlin and Aso also had one kissing moment in Big Brother Finland.

And also not a surprise that Katlin just recently had her first kiss with a Filipino housemate (Hermes Bautista):

ABS-CBN Christmas 2009 Station ID

ABS-CBN has launched last night its Christmas Station ID for 2009.

Comparing it to the previous Station IDs of ABS-CBN, i think this one is the simplest of them all.

The Kapamilya stars, who in the past station IDs were shot in different locations, are gathered this time in just one location.

18 Semi-Finalists for Miss Earth 2009

There's an exciting change this year on Miss Earth pageant.

From the usual 16 semi-finalists, the Miss Earth 2009 edition will have 18 semi-finalists which will be chosen based on the preliminary judging to be done days before the finals.

The 18 semi-finalists will be announced during the finals on November 22 in Boracay.

After they compete in swimsuit, the 18 semi-finalists will be trimmed down to twelve (12) and compete in their evening gowns until 8 finalists are chosen from them to move on to the final round of competition.

Four of the Final 8 candidates will walk away with these prestigious titles: Miss Earth, Miss Earth-Air, Miss Earth-Water and Miss Earth-Fire.

Voting for the Miss Photogenic Earth 2009 begins

The official website of Miss Earth has opened its voting for the most photogenic beauty of Miss Earth 2009.

This is the first time that an online voting will be done for the Miss Photogenic award of Miss Earth.

In the previous years, the Miss Photogenic award was given to the choice of the photographers who covered the Press Presentation.

And now, following the move usually done by Miss Universe, Miss Earth will be giving away the Miss Photogenic to the candidate who got the highest number of online votes.

Shall we expect Philippines, Thailand or Puerto Rico to win the award?

In Miss Earth history, even if the Miss Photogenic award wasn't done via online voting, Philippines already won the award thrice: April Rose Lim Perez in 2002, Jeanne Angeles Harn in 2007 and Karla Paula Henry in 2008.

Here's how to vote for Miss Photogenic Earth 2009:

Just go to Miss Earth's official contestants' page and select the profile of your favorite candidate.

Then click the "Vote for Miss Photogenic" button found at the top of her name.

A small window will pop out requiring you to enter your name and e-mail address.

Voting ends on the 15th and the announcement of the Miss Photogenic winner will be on the 16th.

Miss Earth 2009 National Costume Competition

Evelyne Almasi from Tanzania won as Best in National Costume during the Miss Earth 2009 National Costume Competition held Wednesday, November 04, 2009, at the Amazing Philippines Theater in Pasig City.

The event happened after the candidates were presented to the press in the morning, making it as the 2nd major activity of the pageant.

Aside from the Best National Costume award, two awards were also handed out to two stunning beauties.

Miss Puerto Rico Dignelis Jimenez was Miss Psamlstre New Placenta while Miss Guam Maria Luisa Santos received the Pasigandahan Award.

Today, November 5, the candidates divided into three groups will tour different provinces before they strut their stuff in the runway for their first fashion show tomorrow at Robinsons Place in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Daisy Reyes to compete in Mrs. World 2009 pageant

Former actress and Binibining Pilipinas-World titleholder Daisy Reyes will represent the Philippines in the upcoming Mrs. World 2009 pageant.

The Mrs. World 2009 pageant will take place later this week until the finals on November 22, 2009 in Vung Tau, Vietnam where Daisy will compete for the crown against more than 80 candidates.

It will be Daisy's third time to represent the country in international pageantry.

In 2005, Daisy competed in Miss Expo-International pageant held in Ecuador where she was among the Top 5 finalists.

Then in Miss World 2006 edition in Bangalore, India, she represented the Philippines again and was awarded Miss Personality.

And now, as a mother and wife, Daisy will try her luck in Mrs. World, a pageant for married women around the globe.

If Daisy wins the Mrs. World 2009 crown for the Philippines, it will be the country's first ever victory for the said pageant.

As an actress, Daisy appeared in more than 20 movies after her reign as Binibining Pilipinas-World.

Daisy's filmography includes: "Hinahanap-Hanap Kita" with Aga Muhlach, "Lisensyado" with Lito Lapid, "Cariño Brutal" with Rosanna Roces, "Waray" with Gary Estrada, "Testigo" with Zoren Legaspi, "Parehas Ang Laban" with Ian Veneracion, "Scorpio Nights 2" with Albert Martinez and many more.

Miss Earth 2009 Press Presentation

The candidates of Miss Earth 2009 were presented to the press yesterday morning, November 04, 2009, at Ricky Reyes' mansion in Valle Verde 6 in Pasig City.

Initially, they paraded outside (by the pool) with their respective placards which contain their message about the environment.

But the rain poured heavily, causing them to transfer inside Ricky Reyes' beautiful mansion.

The press presentation was the first major activity for the candidates since they arrived last weekend.

Later in the afternoon, they competed in their National Costume where Miss Tanzania Evelyne Almasi was declared Best in National Costume. (Mykiru has a separate story on this later).

Aso of Big Brother Finland wants Cathy to be his girlfriend

One housemate of Big Brother Finland has opened up his admiration for the Filipina housemate who entered the house for the Big Swap.

Aso, the 24-year-old Iranian-Finnish housemate, finds Cathy of PBB Double Up pretty and cute and expressed that he wants to communicate with her when she comes back to the Philippines and probably have her as his girlfriend.

He however confessed to Big Brother (Finland) that he feels shy of his name upon learning from Cathy that in Tagalog (Filipino) language, "aso" means "dog".

Cathy, on one hand, has revealed to Big Brother (Finland) that she also finds Aso interesting.

Will Cathy open her door for Aso? Exciting...

But Cathy herself was shocked to see in one instance that Aso and another male housemate named Sampo exchanged kisses.

She later learned that Sampo is a bisexual guy.

[In Tagalog, "sampo" sounds like a number 10.]

Meanwhile, Cathy just had her first shower inside the Big Brother house in Finland and she wasn't nude of course.

And guess what she was wearing? A T-shirt and panties.

Finnish housemate Kätlin Laas sings 'Maalaala Mo Kaya' with Fil-Am Tom Mott

Kätlin Laas of Big Brother Finland and Tom Mott of Pinoy Big Brother Double Up have been given a task to master a Tagalog song.

Kuya assigned the popular song "Maalaala Mo Kaya" and the two easily mastered the song.

Both Katlin and Tom can carry a tune and have beautiful voices, much to the surprise of their fellow housemates.

As shown on PBB Primetime last night, Katlin was warmly welcomed by the Filipino housemates.

During her first dinner with the housemates, Katlin shared that she ate an exotic food two weeks ago in Finland.

That exotic food turned out to be a cow's pen*s.

The Filipino housemates were quick to ask Katlin of the food's taste.

And Katlin answered "It tastes like pen*s" causing the housemates to laugh and commend the Finnish beauty of her very good answer.

Miss Earth 2009 Candidates

Marketing Director Kirsty Nichol, 19, represents England in the Miss Earth 2009 pageant.

Eighty (80) countries will participate in the 9th edition of Miss Earth beauty pageant happening in the Philippines.

The candidates representing their respective nations have already started to arrive last October 30 and by November 4, they will be presented to the press in Valle Verde 6 in Pasig City, Metro Manila.

The number of confirmed delegates was supposed to be 88, but some dropped out at the last minute.

One of them is Miss Vietnam Truong Thi May, who was a big pre-pageant favorite for the Miss Earth 2009 title. Uunfortunately, she won't be participating in the pageant because she has not recovered yet from the serious leg injury she got two weeks ago.

The Miss Earth 2009 Grand Coronation Night will happen on November 22 in Boracay Ecovillage Resort & Convention Center.

Girls' Generation is aiming for the top of MYX Hit Chart

Another Korean pop sensation has penetrated the Philippines' MYX Countdown.

In just three weeks, the Korean all-girl group Girls' Generation (So Nyeo Shi Dae) has made its presence felt in the MYX Hit Chart, which counts down the most requested Pinoy and international hits.

Three weeks ago, their single Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) or Sowoneul Malhaebwa (Genie) "소원을 말해봐" in Korean made a soft debut on MYX Hit Chart at #20, but it went up so strong at #9 last week and for this week, it's now the 3rd most requested video, just closely behind Miley Cyrus' Party In The USA (new #1) and former charttopper One More Time by Justin Bieber.

Girls' Generation is being managed by SM Entertainment, the same manager of the popular Korean male group Super Junior.

Members of Girls' Generation include HyoYeon, Jessica, SeoHyun, SooYoung, Sunny, Taeyeon, Tiffany, YoonA and YuRi.

Xian Lim as Twilight's Edward Cullen

"Katorse" star Xian Lim is Edward Cullen for a day in the Twilight/New Moon-inspired feature of Manila Bulletin.

It was published in the E-1 section of Manila Bulletin last Wednesday, October 28, 2009 and the feature was entitled "In the Twilight Hour".

Joining Xian there are actress Bettina Carlos as Bella Swan and model Bryan Foronda as Jacob Black.

Cathy Remperas loses her suitcase in Finland

Nasa Finland na nga po si Catherine 'Cathy' Remperas ng Pinoy Big Brother Double Up para sa isang Big Swap with Big Brother Finland.

Pero sa 'di inaasahang pangyayari ay nawala po ang kanyang suitcase sa airport pati na ni Director Lauren Dyogi at ng kanilang mga kasama.

As relayed by Direk Lauren himself sa kanyang Twitter account, he said that they need to shop some clothes for Cathy dahil nawala ang kanilang suitcase.

Direk Lauren tweeted 10 minutes ago: "we're here in the hotel, visited BBhouse in Espoo, nawala suitcases namin! No clothes for us!"

"Sobraming lamig, they lent us winter jacket. Need to shop some clothes for cathy!"

Samantala, ang ka-swap naman ni Kathy na si Kätlin ay dumating na po sa Pilipinas and will enter the Pinoy Big Brother house tonight to be shown live on PBB Sunday edition, right after George & Cecil.
