Pamela Bianca Manalo, Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2009

Flight stewardess Pamela Bianca Ramos Manalo is the new Binibining Pilipinas Universe.

The 22-year-old 5'10" model also won the contest's Best in Swimsuit Awards and some other corporate awards.

Of the three new titleholders, Manalo has the toughest job to do and that is to end the 9-year drought for the Philippines in the 58th Miss Universe pageant which is scheduled on August 2009 at the Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas.

Bianca is the sister of Miss World 2002 Semi-Finalist Katherine Ann Manalo. She is also the niece of Miss International 1968 semi-finalist Nenita Ramos.

Prior to Binibining Pilipinas pageant, Bianca was one of the hosts of Rush TV Atin 'To, a variety show on Studio 23.

Question: In the future, if ever you get to have a son, what would you teach him about women?

Answer: If in the future, if I would have a son...what I would tell him about woman, women is...he should respect them like ahmm he respects his mother because every woman ahmm can be a mother and if he show that respect to every woman then you know ahmm how to respect yourself as well.

Marie-Ann Umali, Binibining Pilipinas World 2009

On her second try in the Binibining Pilipinas, Filipino-Lebanese Marie-Ann Bonquin Umali has finally been secured with a title, this time as Binibining Pilipinas World 2009.

Marie-Ann, 22-years-old from Batangas and stands 5'8", will then be the Philippines' official representative in the 59th Miss World pageant to be held this December 2009 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In Binibining Pilipinas 2006, Umali was only a Top 10 Semi-Finalist while in the 2009 pageant, she received two major awards (Miss Photogenic and Best in Long Gown) and finished the pageant with a Binibining Pilipinas World crown on her head.

Marie-Ann is a Tourism graduate at the College of Saint Benilde.

FINAL Q & A:

Question: What's your idea of fun?

Answer: Well...my idea of fun is...when you're being...where you..when you're leading a positive outlook in life and...you're happy for what you are and confident on who you are and what you are...then...then therefore...it is my idea of fun...with by being yourself.

During the 2006 Binibining Pilipinas pageant, Marie-Ann Umali had a controversial answer to the question: In your own words,how would you define true love?

The question was asked then by Iza Calzado (She's the host in the 2009 pageant).

Umali responded: "In my own words, love cannot be defined because love should be 'fit'. (She said 'fit' instead of 'felt'.)

But despite all of this, Umali has a great chance of giving the Philippines its first Miss World crown.

Melody Gersbach, Binibining Pilipinas International 2009

Filipino-German beauty Melody Adelaide Manuel Gersbach has been crowned Binibining Pilipinas International 2009 on March 07, 2009 and will represent the Philippines in the 49th Miss International pageant happening on November 2009 in Macau, China.

Melody, 23, stands 5'7", hails from Daraga, Albay in the Bicol Region

A Management graduate at the University of Asia and the Pacific, Melody currently manages a family business (a restaurant) in Bicol.

FINAL Q&A:

Question: Do people think you're not intelligent just because you're beautiful?

Answer: Well for me... beauty is not only the physical...It is beauty of the intellect, beauty of our...insights. And I see that...people misjudge those who are beautiful. We are beautiful within which shines through, for myself, through a beautiful smile. Thank you.

Melody is also the reigning Mutya ng Magayon 2008 and Miss Bicolandia 2008.

The Mutya ng Magayon pageant was held in April 2008 while Miss Bicolandia happened during the Peñafrancia Festival last September 2008. That means, Melody has won three titles in less than a year.

It took 10 years for a Bicolana beauty to snatch a Binibining Pilipinas title once again after Miriam Quiambao in 1999.

Binibining Pilipinas 2009 Winners Forecast

I'm still upset over Candidate #13 Sandra Inez Seifert's disqualification in Binibining Pilipinas 2009 (due to her FHM sexy photos) coz she's one of my top choices for the crown. (Kabadtrip naman kasi 'yang rules nila.)

I just hope they're making the right decision and not regret about it in the end.

And now that Sandra is gone in the competition, it will now be less tough for other candidates to snatch any of the three titles at stake.

Just like Angel Locsin exactly a year ago in Cosmopolitan Magazine, Marian Rivera is making the same move this year by posing in a sexy swimsuit outfit in the same magazine.

Hot, Hot Hideo Muraoka

HIDEO'S ZODIAC SIGN IS SCORPIO! (Just like me!)

Brazilian-Japanese Hideo Muraoka, who was one of METRO Bodies for 2008, is MEG Mag's Cutie Guy offering in its March 2009 issue (with Nikki Gil on the cover).

On MEG, the 20-year-old model (born on November 18th) describes himself as a homebuddy who does not love to party and would rather stay at home. (I'd love to join him!)

He also reveals that aside from his numerous modeling stints, he finds time to do Muay Thai kickboxing and Brazilian folk dance Capoeira.

Where you’ve seen him: Hideo made the streets of Edsa even hotter with his F&H billboard and showed his kung fu chops in the cool C2 commercial.

Special skills: Apart from modeling, Hideo keeps fit by doing Muay Thai and Capoeira. He also plays the guitar and admits to having wooed his ladylove through serenata or as we Filipinos call it harana.

Boy-next-door: You’d think he loves to go out and party but he’s really just a homeboy, “I do not like parties really, I actually prefer staying at home.”

Twist of fate: “On my way home from school this agent kept following me and he was very persistent. It was actually my sisters who persuaded me because I really wasn’t interested in modeling. But I didn’t have anything to lose anyway, so I just tried it. And once I did, I liked it!”

Man with a plan: Even with his slew of commercials and magazine features, Hideo refuses to rest on his laurels. He says, “I don’t think modeling can last forever. Although I’m having fun now, I want to do something else in the future. Modeling is just one way of getting where I want to go.”

Remembering Francis Magalona

Pinoy Master Rapper Francis 'Kiko' Magalona or simply Francis M. died on Friday, March 06, 2009, after a lengthy suffering from leukemia.

Francis, the King of Pinoy Rap, was only 44 years old.

He was the son of popular movie idols of the 50s, Pancho Magalona and Tita Duran.

Married to Pia Arroyo, Francis had eight children: Maxene, Saab, Unna, Nick, Frank, Elmo, Ark and Clara. (Maxene and Saab are actresses)

Other than being a rapper, Francis was also a successful and well-respected host, actor, producer and composer.

Some of his hit songs, which could be considered as "Tatak Francis M.", include Mga Kababayan Ko, Tayo'y Mga Pinoy and Kaleidoscope World.

Before his death, he had a collaboration with Ely Buendia and some other for an album entitled 'The Sickos Project', which is yet to be released in the future.

Francis was supposed to be a special guest on Eraserheads Reunion Concert Part 2: The Final Set, which is happening tonight, March 07, 2009, at SM Mall of Asia.

The guy with Rachelle Ann Go

The guy is Danielo 'Danny' Farmer or is more popularly known in the music scene as DannieBoi.

DannieBoi, 23, is Filipino-American R&B singer and he looks like Hollywood actor Collin Farrell.

In 2007, DannieBoi launched his very first self-titled (independent) album under Synergy Music. It had 10 tracks and one of them was 'Shake That Thing'.

Last year, he was re-launched under a major record label.

DannieBoi signed up with Viva Records and released an album entitled 'Soundtrip' (his official debut album) where 'Shake That Thing' (with a fresh version featuring Beatmonx) is again one of the singles.

And in the recently concluded MYX Music Awards 2009, DannieBoi's Shake That Thing won as Best Urban Video.

Also a model and aspiring actor, DannieBoi made his movie debut in the Rufa Mae Quinto starrer Status: Single.

Watch out for him in the upcoming music video of another VIVA artist Rachelle Ann Go.

PBB's Jolas Paguia joins the Cappuccinos

He got some "big" potential!

Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus ex-housemate Jolas Paguia is the newest addition in the newly-launched sexy all-male group The Cappuccinos.

Standing 6'4", Jolas becomes the tallest member of the Cappuccinos.

Jolas, who is Elyzar Paguia in real life, will turn 20 this April and as a new member of the Cappuccinos, Jolas officially says goodbye to his teenybopper image and welcomes the man that he is now.

Aside from Jolas, three more hunky good-looking men will join the 8 existing members of the Cappuccinos for the group's re-launch this Summer.

Sarah and Rayver sing 'If I Were A Boy'

On ASAP '09 yesterday, future loveteam (and even lovers) Sarah Geronimo and Rayver Cruz performed a duet of Beyonce hit 'If I Were A Boy'.

Some were surprised that Rayver could really sing. Yes, Rayver can really sing and it's not actually surprising though because he already showcased his singing ability long before (during his Anim-E days).

He used to sing before with Mico Aytona, also an Anim-E member, in Full Circle, a segment of ASAP.

And I must say, Rayver and Sarah do look cute, good and cool together. How about a teleserye with Rayver and Sarah in the lead? Why not...

The two already starred together in the recent box-office hit You Changed My Life.
