The 2009 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards show at LA's Shrine Auditorium last night, June 28, paid tribute to Michael Jackson, with most of its numbers were dedicated to the King of Pop who died on Thursday, June 25.

Michael Jackson's father Joe was there to witness BET's whole tribute to Jacko, while sister Janet Jackson appeared on the last part of the show to personally thank BET organizers and the fans for the wonderful tribute and the support they gave to his brother.

"To you Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family and he will forever live in all of our hearts. On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all of your love, thank you for all of your support. We miss him so much, thank you so much."

It was Janet's first ever public appearance since Michael's death last Thursday.

Jamie Foxx hosted the event while performers were Beyonce (she sang Ave Maria), Kanye West, Ne-Yo, Jay-Z, Soulja Boy, Keri Hilson, Ciara and many more.

Beyonce won for herself her 3rd Best Female R&B Artist award from BET as well as the Video of the Year award for "Single Ladies".

On her acceptance speech, Beyonce dedicated her award to Michael Jackson:

"This is for you, Michael Jackson. I have to thank Michael for being my future and my hero."
