Oscars 2009 Best Foreign Language Film Predictions

Ploning, the Philippines' entry to the Oscar Awards 2009 Best Foreign Language Film category, still has a dim chance of making it to the Top 5, despite rigorous campaigns made by Judy Ann Santos herself, the female lead of the movie, and the film producers in the US this month.

In the 66th Golden Globe Awards 2009 nominations released two weeks ago, the 5 nominees for the Best Foreign Language Film mostly come from European countries with only one fron Asia: The Baader Meinhof Complex (Germany), Everlasting Moments (Sweden), Gomorrah (Italy), I've Loved You So Long (France) and Waltz With Bashir (Israel).

The Golden Globe Awards usually gives an idea as to the outcome of the Oscar Awards.

Meanwhile, in the 14th Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) Critics' Choice Awards 2008, it almost has the same nominees for the Best Foreign Language Film with that of the Golden Globe, but this time with 2 contenders from Asia: A Christmas Tale (Un conte de Noël) • France, Gomorra • Italy, I've Loved You So Long (Il y a longtemps que je t'aime) • France, Let the Right One In (LÃ¥t den rätte komma in) • Sweden, Mongol • Kazakhstan and Waltz with Bashir (Vals im Bashir) • Israel.

With this, some sites have already listed down their predictions for the Oscars 2009 Best Foreign Language Film, none of which has cited 'Ploning' as one of the possible nominees:
