Miss Universe 2007 has three Filipina candidates: Fil-Norweigan Kirby Ann Basken (Miss Norway), Fil-German Angelina Glass (Miss Germany) and the real Filipina Anna Theresa Licaros (Miss Philippines).
Aside from these three Filipina candidates, another half-Filipina by the name of Vanessa Joy Minnillo will be part of the said prestigious event. Not as a candidate though, but as a host for the finals night happening on May 28th in Mexico.
Vanessa Minnillo is born to an Irish-Italian father and a Filipina mother. She was Miss Teen USA in 1998, and it opened the doors for her to be a sought-after host, having hosted shows like MTV Total Request Live, UK's Top of the Pops, Miss USA pageant and a lot more. She is currently a correspondent of Entertainment Tonight.
Aside from hosting, she also busied herself with minor appearances on TV and soon, she'll be seen as Chris Evan's love interest in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
As an accomplished host, Vanessa Minnillo has successfully explored the celebrity world by gracing the covers of different magazines.
Speaking of Miss Universe 2007, Minnillo is the fourth Filipina to be part of the said pageant. She will host the event along with Mario Lopez.
The respected panel of celebrity judges has also been announced and it includes notable names such as James Kyson Lee of NBC's Heroes, "Deal or No Deal" briefcase model Lindsay Clubine, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, figure skating champion Michelle Kwan, "Project Runway" judge and Elle magazine fashion director Nina Garcia, and a lot of more.
To the delight of many, former Miss Universe (1993) Dayanara Torres will also sit as one of the judges. Yari, Dayanara's nickname, was a major star in the Philippines wayback in 1994 until 1998.
